the B-17 i mentioned a while ago is just about ready to go. Should be out in 4-6 weeks. Don't know prices yet but probably not that expensive.

Looks pretty good, needs some weathering and dullcote. There should be a silver one coming as well. Both have chin turrets.

Hey Aferg, Almost ready to put together that F-4 Phantom and take some pics, but in the mean time, I noticed this at Nitroplanes. An f-15 that looks to be damned near 1:18 scale. As the resident expert on RC birds here, what do you think? http://www.nitroplanes.com/93a15-f15-skycamo-arf.html

it's a bit small, actually. There are two others that are nearly perfect. A single seater by RICCS and an F-15E by Edomodel. I dont have time to look for pics but they're both nice, although the RICCS one could use a repaint and both are almost perfectly 1/18.

The RICCS one can be found at Hobby King. Edomodel is available at RC Castle still i think.

and another B-17 coming soon. This one is around 1/17 scale. Looks pretty good. Heavy panel lines. Not sure what's up with the yellow cowls. 74 inch span, 51 inches long.

B-17 looks good, but I'm with you on the yellow cowls. Finally finished garage so putting together the f-4 this week. Very pleased with it. Hope to post pics this weekend. Anybody recommend best site to link pictures to here?

a lot of people are complaining about the heavy panel lines, which surprises me since it's an rc plane and usually people arent' too fussy about smaller details like that.

I'm probably going to get the smaller one i mentioned a few posts above, as it looks a bit better, will be cheaper, has the chin turret plus, olive drab and silver colour options. It will also be more in scale with some of my other large planes, all of which are a bit underscale. It's a tough choice though since the bigger one has the waist window positons....the smaller ones just have decals.

Looking forward to the Phantom pics.

OK, Finally got the garage in order and put the Phantom together and took pics. I want to post but not sure which pic hosting site to choose based on what I hear about malware with some of them like photobucket. Any recommendations as to which site is best to post pics from in the forums?

thanks!

Thanks, after collecting from the very beginning of XD, and moving around the world in the Army, my stuff was scattered throughout the US in various storage units. Now that I am retired from the Army and can stay in one place, I was finally able to build a place for all the stuff!

Lancaster on the way. Word is it's in scale with the upcoming b-17, which means about a 63 inch span, around 1/19 scale, like the Fort.

Very early pic, so things could change but it will probably be out late this year. Too cool.

Looking forward to seeing what it looks like with color. Finally opened my B-25. More complicated than I thought to put it together so will take some time. What's the best glue to use on foam. I found some good gorilla glue but it swells up when drying. :(

the kits i've put together came with a tube of glue. I havent put my b-25 together yet but i assumed i'd use leftover glue from other models. I'm not really sure what type it is. It reminds me a lot of plastic model glue, about the same consistency and drying time. White glue works well but takes forever to dry.

Did your F-117 not come with glue?

Yep, all of them came with glue, but it was the kind you have to mix, so I usually threw it away after I finished because of the mess. I'll do some experimentation with different glues and try and find the one that works well without expanding three times

You will want to use foam safe ca glue for assembling foamies. Tower carries a few different types.

Hope this helps.

anyone thinking of getting the Windrider Boeing 737, which is nearly exactly 1/18, here is a bit of info. The plane comes unpainted. You have the option of purchasing decals for various airlines, but you'll have to paint the trim yourself.

Here are the decal selections (i think they are stickers not decals):

http://www.windrider.com.hk/product.asp?id=200

im going for the qantas ones, they're my favourite plus painting is easy, just one big red stripe, the wings are even white on the real plane (as opposed to boeing grey, on most planes).
