Some of you guys keep harping on shipping costs I don't think they are unreasonable at all. I ordered one plane before the frenzy swept over me, and the shipping for that was only six dollars and change.

You have to remember that they have to pay someone to pull the parts, package, label, and do the shippers, plus pay the freight. Not unreasonable at all.

Shipping on some items is higher than others. For instance I could get one panther shipped to me for $19.53 or I could get 2 pattons and a halftrack shipped for $19.56. Make any since to you?

* I bought both the Patton & the Panther separately but the Panther was more expensive to ship than the Patton. Alot of sense that made since the Patton is a bigger and heavier tank due to it having a die-cast hull to begin w/ . + = :?

I haven't a clue as to the shipping rates, although shipping to a business is much cheaper.

I ordered a P51 and a Panther on Sunday. Shipping to my house was $30 total.

I ordered an 88 on Thursday.
Shipping to my work was $6.89

I ordered a Pak 40, two halftracks and a Patton that night. Shipping to work was $19.10 total.

I ordered a 262 Nightfighter a couple hours later when they hit. Shipping to work was $7.98.

Perhaps MD changed their rates a bit during the week, but I think FedEx home delivery is just really pricey.

If possible, send 'em to work. That way your co-workers can see how "special" you are!

You are spot on Jeffrey, I also heard that shipping to a business was cheaper when using FedEx and UPS. I had both Monkey Depot purchases shipped to my work and both shipping costs were VERY cheap!

I thought I saw you mention this before. I've owned that Patton before, took it apart, sanded and painted it. The only metal in it is the screws. MD's description even states it is made of plastic. Sorry to disapoint, but better you know know so you know what to expect and can enjoy it.

When checking out, you have a "billed to" address and a "shipped to" address area to fill out. I am lucky that I can get my "toys" shipped to my work all the time, so they are used to it.
Also, you can go to your account on the Monkey depot site and change your shipping address that way too. The only problem is I don't know if they will adjust the rates to match. That is probably worth a phone call.

* M-48 Patton @ MD ?

Post by MG-42 » Fri Feb 06, 2009 9:21 pm

* Well , according to the pic provided by MD ,.. it's the die-cast one. I'm going by the color of the tracks and no "snorkel" on the rear. The die-cast one didn't come w/ a commander figure and the snorkel was omitted / left out and the tracks are brown instead of black like on the 1st. series.

........ We'll see or I'll be PISSED ! ! !

* "Btw" ... the #28 Avenger is the only plane in the series that does not come w/ an Alien figure.

Trust me, that's the exact one I picked up from Good Stuff To Go last year. The tracks are a funky pinkish color with silver drybrushing. It does not come with a commander and it is 100% plastic. I'd love a metal one to convert to R/C. Didn't know they existed.

6 BUCKS for shipping?
Well, of course it's only 6 bucks to ship to you. You are only one state from MD -you are practically in their backyard. You are in Redding, CA.
Anybody on the east coast is getting soaked from shipping.
I just wish they offered USPS parcel post or a 3 day Fed Ex ground.
But whatever...

Shipping to me was $7 for the Nightfighter.
I hope people aren't expecting MD to ship across the US for little or nothing, especially in light of the incredible deals they offered. Honestly, I would've paid $20 for shipping and still felt like I got one heck of a deal.

I was charged $25 to ship two panthers and $13 to ship two patton tanks. I live in California. Should I inquire why the shipping is so high for the panther tanks?

Mitch, that box looks identical to the one I got in March, but if yours shows up and is truly metal, please notify me IMMEDIATELY! I will have to buy as many as I can afford to produce heavy R/C versions. The HL Bulldog guts would make this conversion a plug-n-play. Damn, now you have me pondering.
