Heads up: 26th December 2004, Clearance Prices hitting early

Post by WGP Klaus » Sat Dec 25, 2004 7:49 am

Heard ramblings on various model related sites, seems selected Wal-Marts have clearanced 1:18 vehicles/aircraft early this year. Heard from one gentleman down in the Hampton Roads area (Va) that he picked up several 109's and P40's at $19.97, and from another individual that he scored several A/C for $9.97. So, get yourself out of the rack early tomorrow, it's time to hit those walmarts and get the items you've been waiting for the price to drop on. I'll buy what I find (if anything) and will offer them here (like I did last year on GPs site, in the "For Sale" forum for actual cost + actual shipping) as soon as I manage to report back.

Regards,
Todd

Well, Galland 109's and Kepford Corsairs have been seen in every WM in my AOR. I am quite impressed with the improved distribution showed so far with the new stuff. I know they will move as the paint schemes and new boxes make them look just too damn good. The M113's at the Camden store have been marked down to $30 today, as expected. I have a feeling that they won't move until they reach $13, unfortunately. The figures just kill the presentation of the vehicle...........

Just got back from one of my local WM's: 6 silver bubbletops, 2 190 black 1's; tan M113's marked down to $32 and the tan RC Stuarts marked down to $130.

I noticed the paint schemes on both the black 1's was absolutely horrid! Overspray, fingerprints, etc. Glad I'll be able to search these out and hand pick one, I'd be too afraid to order online not knowing how it would look... The first 2 of the 190's always had decent paint schemes, at least all that I see, these black 1's were disappointing. Absolutely the first time I've seen a new XD and didn't walk out with it!

Bellingham, WA has 6 190 Black 1's and 2 Bubbletops, all with bad paint jobs at full price. Looks like QC has taken a back seat at 21st. Good luck finding a good one on the shelves anywhere.

Looked like a tornado ripped through the toy department (no joke)!

I found 1 Tiger going for $31.00
and a couple of those assult vehicles (Gulf war =?) for $31.00
and 2 , 1/6 Scale R/C tanks way up on a shelf...unable to see the price!

No Planes at all...My e-bay buddy snatched them all up last week!

Hoping the ME 109-G will arrive sometime soon....I'm fading fast and might have to buy a Galland to hold me over!

Checked four Wal Marts between Tennessee and Cincinnati and only the Berea KY store had planes. They have about ten yellow nose, Scotty dog Stukas if anyone lives near by.

Checked 7-8 Walmarts in my AO and not a single one had any of the XD marked down. I had however noticed the 1:18 items were hardly touched during the holiday, and that the stockers are starting to put all the 18th scale items together on endcaps so I'm hoping the markdowns are coming soon as there is no shortage locally.

With exception of the Tigers there are no markdowns here either as far as 1/18 goes. I did find a bunch of RC Stuarts in the winter livery marked down to $100. May have to break down and get one.

Far more interesting selection of planes and vehicles than any of the Wal Marts in my area!

Franklin, NJ WM has two of the new Kepford Corsairs, two of the Me109 planes(they are the same camo scheme as the first plane 21st put out, but with different markings-what is this one called?) about 5 Flying Tiger p40s, about 6 of the alll green CIA helos and a new selection of the 1:32 motorworks plastic AFV kits. No big armored vehicles since before Christmas and no 1/6 Suarts.

Ahh...Sehr gut. Danke. My plane has the mickey on the side of the cockpit with the "< - + - " markings on the side. Just added the swastika myself. What were the above mentioned symbols supposed to represent anyway?
