Another step forward 2/3 of the way. This is the right wing molded. The surface coat picks up all the detail. I'm very happy with the results so far. 10 coats of wax on the fuselage and that's next. Looking ahead to laying up some parts.

So are you going with vacuum formed wings , fiberglass or resin ?

Along with the fuse.

Normandy I like that last pic !!!

There is something about the tropical paint jobs .

:D :D :D

Nice to see this project moving along, this is another of my all time favorite aircraft.

I like the tropical paint job as well Pickel. But I may have to buy two of these Ta-183's cause I can't
settle on just one camo scheme..........

The Body and wings will be fiberglass. The stab, cockpit, engine compartment will be resin. Landing gear metal (Hopefully retractable).

Jay sent a couple images of the refined landing gear.

This video is an example of what I am going for. These R/C planes fly over 300mph. I'm hoping sitting on a shelf or hanging will not break this plane.
I have learned allot from his videos.

This is the paint job I would like to see. I would also like to do a Russian version.

This will be a very impressive model!!
Is there any chance of seeing Ruhrstahl X-4 missiles with it or at a later date?

Keep up the Great work, looks fantastic so far!

Little bit of progress this weekend. I was able to get the horizontal stab and exhaust nozzle thing molded. First cast of these parts.
The fuselage is ready to mount up on the wall. That would be pretty cool to do just a side section on a plack. Depending on the week, I will get one side fiber glassed. Six hours for two gel coats and fours hours of glassing. Three days to cure before demolding to start all over on the other side, but I think it's going to be worth all the time. Norm, there will be four Ruhrstahl X-4 rockets on this. I may take a little detour and wok on these. It helps to break up the work. Hope everyone likes what I have done so far.

Wow the detail on the fuselage looks great!!!! Yes, I like what you've done so far, well half of it.....
Nice work Nathan this is going to be one of the coolest 1:18 planes on the market.

Glad to hear about the X-4 missiles! Hopefully You'll sell extras, I could use some for my Horten 229's. :)

Winter just won't leave. Work is halted with the resin products. The stuff won't work right at 65 degrees. I'm defiantly not calling to have the propane tank fill now, so I started on the X-4's. I've roughly shaped the main body portion and a couple fins. I am finishing up a couple metal landing gear for the F14 and I'll take some pictures.

First images of the 1/18 Ruhrstahl X-4. I taped the fins on just to get an idea of what it's going to look like. One more tail fin and I can mold the body portion. I think it turned out fairly nice. I also have one side of the fuselage mold done. Waiting on some more resin to get side two done. I also ordered the items to begin vacuum bagging parts. I'll post some pictures when I have the X-4 body cast and painted.

ImageX-4 out of the way. Still waiting on the resin, so I decided to get one completed.
This is what I used as I guide.

This is what I came up with. First attempt with the wood faux painting.

There was some talk of a X-4 on a FW-190. Any interest?
I would need to create the wing pylon to hold the X-4. This was the best picture I could find. Anyone have anything better than what I could find? Not much out there.

I think the ruhrstahl X4 would look cool at the D9 and Me262 too. I´m definetly interest in those little bastards
And mounting at the fw190 A and/or D9 should be the same wing pylon.
Count me in for 3 sets.

Couple progressions this week. I am molding the pylon for the x-4 to attach to the FW-190. The mold will be cured later this afternoon. I can probably get a few samples out tomorrow.

This is the first test of a composite half of a wing. I laid up 1oz, 3oz and 5oz cloth to see how thick it will be. Couple hours and I can pull the plastic off and give it a trim.
Post pictures later.

Working out the bugs. First try had some voids. I would like it to be a little thicker. This one is like a thin plastic vacuum formed piece.
