Do you have any detailed pictures of them opening so we can see what we have to work with?

Did you add a metal bar connecting each pair of wheels through the body? Something like 21st would do to add stability to the overall piece?

What will provide structural integrity for the body, or will it be just a block of resin?

Hey Paul,

I have stainless steel axels that conect the wheels through the body. Looks kind of toyish but it does the job. I could do a compleet under carrage but that will drive up the price.

The body shell has ribs through out it.

Man if it were solid resin that would be about $80 worth of resin
All my stuff is hallow for the most part.

Thanks Teamski. :D

Well I solved the turret basket mount problem. Or made up my mind what I am going to do with it.

Simple clips . It took me 3 hrs to make these simple things including repairing the basket frames.

They are a little fidely but they hold the basket with no glue and unless bumped displays well. You could always glue them if you like.

So, the clips can be removable, so it can be displayed either way?

Yes open or closed. You do not have to glue the clips on they hold the basket pretty tight.

But you will have to tack glue the basket together if you want it in the closed position . Or maybe glue a small strip to one and let it hold up the other side.

Because now that I have it split it wants to fall in the turret.

How come you didn't just make the bottom of the turret baskets a round bar and integrate the clips into the turret itself, that way it could swing open and closed? I know it compromises the accuracy of the piece, but i think the opening and closing turret would make up for it.

Well there are many reasons.
Your idea is a good one. But I would have the same problem attaching it to the turret.

I would have to have a clip or something to hold the basket.

Plus it would have been real hard to glue the sreen on.

Plus a few holes would have to be put in the screens for them to swing.

This can be done by the modeler if so desired.

As stated before by other members the Tamiya kit does not have options. You can either glue it open or shut. You can't have both.

Mine you can. So in effect it does move you just have to station it.

It was hard enough making that basket the way I did. And it would have been crazy hard to join the bottoms and up right frames and angles and screens and ........

Well,

My regular work has been piece meal this week.
I NEED TO TAKE IT WHEN I GET IT.
So I have not had the chance to get back on it. I need plenty of time to work on this and a hour or two here or there does not work out .
So I have been using the time to develope the wading trunks. That are almost done.

Fly boy ,

I always get a few rejects when I mold. The last time I had some up for sale it was a success.

I think that the 222 is my best project to date.

But sales are LOW :?

Maybe too much money, maybe the economy. I have had several guys back out due to money. When I do get to the pouring stage there will be about $30-$40 worth of resin in each. And each will take about a day to pour.

It is making me think of keeping with the smaller projects. Because for most of the folks these big ticket projects are out of reach.

Time will tell. After this the next big project will be the clipped Spitfire and I will see how many are on board with that to see how far I will take it.

Thanks,

Matthew

Well I can only usually afford about $150 most so...... It looks great but your talent is to much for me. :D If I had the money hell yea I would get one but being 15 with no job yet it makes it hard :(

I have said $225-$250. $25 is not a big difference and of all the guys who have preordered they have paid $250.

If sales would have been through the roof I could have dropped it below $225.

But the way things are the price is set on $250.

I know that if I sold them for $100 I would sell quite a few.

But that meens that I would make $70 a day. I would make more working at Mc Donalds.

OK,

If I sold the 222 for $175 who would be interested in it ?

I would reimbesre the guys who have paid already the diff.

If I could get 12- 15 more sales at this price I will offer a deal like I did for the Wirbelwind project.

But this is A LOT MORE THAN THE WIRBELWIND..

12 -15 new customers and I will drop the price down to $175 . That is a savings of $75.

This will be the cheapest armor custom out ever.

Any takers ? 15 more to be exact ?

I'm in the middle of assembling your wirbel kit and really enjoying it...

I can't speak for the other 14 guys but count me in for one either way. Would you consider a combo discount for an M-10, FoV waders and 222 order? :)

I see this as our only shot at getting this vehicle in 1:18. I could see JSI making making a T-34 or even the Stuart. Maisto might give us a decent, WWII BMW motorcyle, or a first production, run VW. I think, this and the M10, are just to obscure, to have any chance, at a wide commercial release.

OK Guys,

Finally I am back on the 222.

I have started making the moulds and hopefully production will start in the middle or the end of next week.

This will be a good Christmas for the XD world. A brand new aircraft ( F-14) and a brand new piece of armor ( my Sdkfz 222 ).

Joy to the XD world.

BTW

You guys who have been waiting to put in your orders for the 222 put them in now if you want them by Christmas.

Also I am now offering a fully built almost ready to paint service on all of my projects . Prices very on the projects but I am offering to build this as AN ALMOST READY TO PAINT OF $60 EXTRA .

This will come in a gray primer. I will smooth everything out fill the seams. But you may want to touch it up before you paint.

This will also add an extra week per order.

Let me know.
