wooot!

just bought...

- M1
- sniper "snake " Rooney
- point man "Clement Packer"
- little bird pilot "chopper" Harris ... he is with MUCH more detail/accessories than what the actual little bird came with (and he is in black!)

i was going to get the L.A.V. (??) but for some reason the bar code couldnt scan :( so no purchase...

(HOUSTON TX , I-45 @ Cypresswood)
a decent selection! no choppers though.

Can't have an op without your friendly neighborhood CIA advisor.

I'm not much of an Army helo guy, but this was too neat to pass up at $30.

My store had 3 Blackhawks, 1 Apache, 1 LAV, 1 Abrams, 3 USMC Super Hummers, and 1 Army Hummer. I got a big kick out of the USMC Hummer being marked 'ARMY' on the hood. Perhaps it was a midnight acquisition from someone else's motor pool.

Here's a comparison picture of the BBI Tanker figures:

Image

The old LAV Driver is to the left and the new M1 Commander to the right. You can see the differing cammo patterns. Also, here's my slightly customized M1 Abrams tank, showing off the darker tan BBI used in the paintjob. I added the ID panels (from a 21c M113) and the stowage.

One of the things I noticed when I was examining the BBI Blackhawk at Target and in the pics above is that looks very toy-like. I know it is a "toy" but it just seemed very plain looking. :?

Maybe it would look better with some detail work or something.

It actually does have some weathering: blackening around the exhaust and intake ports, silver weathering on the stub-wing leading edges, doors, etc. This is on the one I bought at Target, at least. The Blackhawk is not heavily weathered, but its alot better than the plain plastic. The Blackhawk does lack alot of the finer details that the 21c and later BBI helos have. This "toy" was initially designed in 2003 and standards have changed since then. It is not far-fetched to say that the BBI Kiowa and Nightstalker Littlebird (both of which are newer moulds) actually have better detailing than the Blackhawk. To me, it is still a nice piece and a bargain at $30

However, if one wants a toyish Blackhawk, than look no further than the PTE version

Agree, put them side by side and you'll have a full appreciation for how awesome the BBI Blackhawk truly is.. and for $30.. feels like stealing.. ;)

Also, Tman thanks for posting the driver comparison pics! And adding the panel from the M113 to the M1 was a creative but simple and effective touch.. 8)

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong it is a cool chopper, maybe the silver paintbrush dude called in sick on the day that particular Blackhawk went down the assembly line. I guess I have just been spoiled by other releases.

Does anyone have any side-by-side shots of the original releases and these Target ones? They seem to look a little...different. I can't quite be sure, but the Blackhawk looks shinier than the old one, and the new M1 looks darker. Am I out of my gourd?

The M1 looks darker to me as well. The new version is in a much more accurate color without the gloss

All the Targets in my area now have the new BBI stuff (in somewhat varying assortments) and the new FOV. That is what I call good distribution 8)

Now that TRU and Target have entered the distribution line, I find it much easier to find things that I am looking for. No more wasting time making the rounds at WM's. What a relief! :D

I was told the other day Target was going to have their reset done by Friday. They haven't even started it in the toy dept. yet.

Nothing but those same two BBI choppers and a handful of FOV stuff shoved on the bottom shelf in the corner of another aisle. No new stuff at all.

A big BAH HUMBUG! to all you hosers with aisles full of FOV and BBI!! :P :P

For $30.00, who cares that the BBI Blackhawk has a glare to it. For anybody who cares, brush some weathering chalks on the copter at the appropiate points and then spray it with Testors Dullcote. I'm sure that you will like the result. When I find them here, I will be doing some custom work on one.

Target here in Dover got their stock of Helicopters, figures and vehicles. You just can't beat the prices, period. It's amazing that I paid $60 years ago for this stuff!!

The gods of 1:18 plastic have smiled upon my AO finally! Shelves in Md reset finally and now displaying full BBi Lineup, excluding the M1, and I've not seen a shelf tag for it at any of the stores that recently stocked the helos, figs and humvees. Now I can justify tearing up a blackhawk and the apache for some customs I've always wanted to do but didn't want to tear apart the ones in the stash without know if they'd be available again.

Thanks BBi and Target, you guys rock! :-)

my buddy works for one of the super targets, and when the local one didnt have any helos yet, i asked if his store had them. he siad yes...i had acquired the little bird, thinking the large helos were big..but not REAL BIG.. so i told him "surprise me between the apache, and blackhawk."

he dropped off the apache :)

i cannot believe how big this is for 30 bucks!!!!!!!!!!! if not the same length of the avenger, or the 104..and possibly heavier, it LOOKS it!
