Did bbi make an all black version of the black hawk?

Post by JohnLumley » Fri Jun 15, 2007 11:12 pm

I have always thought the series one black hawk (bbi item # 21184) was really dark green or olive in color but not black.

The e-bay seller is stating it is black in color. Or is this really the s1 olive colored one?

Not to be confused with the pave hawk s2 paint scheme (bbi item # 21279) which is a multi colored camo.

What do you think?

I remember the S1 Blackhawk sitting on the shelves at my local TRU and Hobbytown USA. Should have gotten one

To answer your question, however, they were a dark OD green :)

The "green" MH-60 the seller mentions in his description is the green & gray cammo Air Force version.

Yes, I got one when they were first released and it was OD.

The only black/green "double act" I know of is the Kiowa - BBI did the original in the OD green and then an SFOR version in black.

I've got the green "Recon" bird but haven't seen the black one yet - I'd like to get it but wife and wallet may not allow...

On a related note, there's a link from the BlackHawk auction to one for an Apache see below), also supposedly 1:18 (it's got the correct item number) but it shows as having 2x quad Stinger AAM launchers, 2x drop tanks, 4x Hellfire AGM racks and 2x FFAR rocket racks; did BBI really (re-?)issue the Apache with all the extra ordinance or has he got a pic of a smaller model in there? I'm guessing it's a smaller one as it doesn't look quite right for the 1:18th bird... possibly a "Forces of Valor" or similar?

As far as i know the blackhawk has only been released in od however, there were some pics years back of what looks like a black one but i dont think it was ever released (if it was i want one lol) here are a few links:

Of course as we know the blackhawk will be appearing in Target soon so it might have been recoloured but i doubt it. The one in this auction looks like the three OD ones in my spare room.

Jeff
I have seen that pic before for a smaller scale apache. I don't think BBI has redone the apache it would be cool to have the extra armament but think the wrong image has been used in this auction.
Again BBI did show (through Merrit) a re coloured one years ago that looked pretty cool but as far as i know it was never released.

That is the promo picture for the FOV 1:48 Apache. The BBI version doesn't come with all the ordinance (though I wish it did) and has the pushrods for the main rotor incorrectly placed on top of the rotor instead of underneath.
