boyx30...i'm sure they'd be no problem to pop off.

You may want to wait for a desert version repaint by 21c. With their passion for repaints and a dessert version being such an obvious and interesting choice, i'm pretty sure we'll see one in the next few months. It will be a must have, for sure..

They do a desert paint on the 109G and I am all over it. Tho the best desert paint schemes were really on the E and early F models. By the time they got to later Fs and Gs ... it was pretty much just brown... instead of the really cool mottled coloring.

I think the reason post are few and far between on the 109G and Bubbletop is that there aren't any of them at WM.

I have reconned the entire Western US looking for both, with none found.

I'll buy the S2 109G when it comes out, but will only pay full retail on the bubbletop if they come out with a Gabby version.
As one who owns most of the razorbacks, I have to admit that 21st exceeded demand for this type.

Got my 109G today. It's certainly a beauty. The raves were not undeserved. Even has the landing light under the port wing....wow. About the only faults i can find are a minor paint gauge on the leading edge of one wing and the fact that both wings have red nagivation lights (the starboard wing's should be green).

Unforntunately the evil ebay seller that i bought from did not send the swastika decals with it like he was supposed to. :x

Why'd you go with ebay? Try anothe small retailer! Anyways, glad you like the plane! It is one of the best 21c efforts, exceeding the Spitfire, but by a close margin.

i went with ebay cos i got it cheap ($39) and ebay sellers will normally low ball the value on the Customs sticker whereas online retailers will not. Plus this guys shipping was very reasonable. So all in all i saved about $35 or so as compared to buying it at BCA or Toy Fed.

I contacted the seller and he realized he'd goofed and had already mailed me the decals. He's a good seller now. :)

Glad you got a good deal and the decals as well! That makes the plane all the sweeter.

Ok, I found it easy enough. It belongs to Gunter Sahl, JG54. It's #4:

Thanks Ski,

So the Greenhearts!....Troutloft, Bob and Ekert?....okay good enough...still need that desert!...intersting picks though?

you'd think the list would be:

Hartmann
Barkhorn
Rall
Krupinski.....etc.....
just from a logical and recognized stand point?

Yeah, it's pretty obscure, I agree. I'm sure at least one of the big boys will appear at one point or another.

Well, at least it falls in well with the likes of some of the the Razerback P-47s; little known pilots who were in the thick of it......

actually not a bad marketing idea.......
you get the reactionary buyers who purchase right off the bat!....then nickle and dime us with re-paints all leading up to the big ticket...in short they get us to buy more than one of each plane...brilliant i must say!

I'm not a sheep...I'm a lemming!...there IS a difference!

some things i've noticed about the Graf 109:

In Teamski's profile of it there is a fully white tail and i have seen other pics of models where it just has a white rudder but the 21c model has nada. I suspect an oversight by 21c but it is possible that the white tail evolved over time going from non-white to white rudder to full white tail. I've heard of such evolutions before.

The profile also shows it having a green '1' whereas every other source shows a red '1'. Perhaps some uncertainty here from studying b/w photos.

The profile also says it was based in Germany in '42 but as far as i know the G-6 did not enter production until february of '43.

All minor points but i am feeling a bit niggly today...

109 G

Post by gordon24 » Sat Feb 19, 2005 10:13 pm

Got mine today from Far Out Toys in San Jose. The updated G version tail was painted seperately, thus making the camo have an abrupt line where it fit onto the aircraft, sort of half blotches at the seam.Looks horrible. And the wings don`t seem to want to stay firmly snapped into position.I don`t know if mine was a screw up or are they all like that. Also it feels like I could just pull the whole tail section off, there`s a little slop there. However,I got the BBI F-16 and I LOVE it.The BBI Mustang sets a real high mark to hit also. That will be my next one.It is Beautiful!!

Andrew, check this pic
http://www.luftwaffe39-45.historia.nom. ... 9_graf.jpg
it also shows the green "1" but does not dispell your concerns over the tail :?
I know the planes were painted all the time so the same plane could look slightly different day to day. It's tough to get a profile pic & description that is spot on - for example the Graf has 58 kill marks (I believe) which would be how the plane appeared in his final days in an E model as #58 was his last kill in that plane. Depending on which history you prefer, 58 came in late Sept or Spring of the next year, not summer as the profile describes. Being 60 yrs. ago, these things happen....some of my best books are just plane wrong on some of their captions....

it doesn't really worry me at all....i'm not really into spot on markings. I tend to look at my planes as 'generic' anyway. I just noticed this when i was doing a little research into the 109G-6.

The white tail looks kind of spiff though....would have been nice if they'd done it that way, especially since they show it white on the box the plane comes in..

I don't see 21st doing 2 "white tail" 109s.. The S2 version also has a white tail.. Maybe that's why they changed the S1????.. :?

Same here. If they had muted the orange on the Graf (S1) a bit I might have bitten.
I've been a good boy this week. Resisted buying both the bubbletop variations I came across in Southern AZ. I'll hold out for a 56th AF green/grey camo version ala Zemke or Gabby.
