Hidious One,

Yeah, we don't know either. We have been told that future repaints of the tanks WILL have the skirts. If you could post a picture, I'm sure we would all like to see your mod!!!

Normandy:

I had alot of trouble getting the commander out of the hatch. I gave up three times and let it be, came back an hour latter and tried again. Finally freed him.

Guys:

Mine came from SBP in a 21c box with SBP shipping label on the box. Have we already found out about a connection between the two?? Beyond 21c "outsourcing" Customer Service.

My muzzle break is in the wrong direction, my problem is it is firmly attached. Any suggestions?? I'd rather live with it like it is than break it. The people who are "wowed" by my collection of toys and dollies, I guarantee will never notice.

I drove my Command Car for years, and so many guys would look at it and say "Wow, great Jeep!!!!", and driving my M-37 they would come up and say "Wow, great Jeep!!!!". I always appreciated that they thought enough to say. How many will look at my Panzer and say "Wow, great tank toy BUT the muzzle break is wong."

Hello,
First off all I decided I will be ordering this tank. Secondly I'am terrible at telling what divisions German armor are from. So does anyone know what divison this tak is from and where was it stationed through out the war. Thanks.

Take care,
Joe

muzzle brake

Post by red69charger » Wed Jan 19, 2005 7:52 am

TTT I gave my muzzle brake a twist to break it loose. Most glues do not stand up very well to torquing. On one of my vehicles it came loose very easily. On the other it was more firm and I had to apply a decent amount of pressure. On this one the barrel developed a partial split at the seam where they apparently did not apply as much glue. Even with the split, the damage was easily repaired with a little glue and a wipe to remove any excess blobs that seeped out.

That said, you are probably right in that few average joes will notice the flaw. The question then becomes are you OK with it because you know it is there. Personally that stuff drives me crazy but then I can be pretty anal about it. Good luck.

Let's hope this problem with the muzzle brake gets corrected on the subsequent releases.

it's too bad the turrent schurtzen doesn't open up like the turrent side doors. if they managed to do that than this tank would be an absolute bliss!!

Panzer Division..

M4, as far as I can tell the L in script on the front looks like the Divisional Insignia of Panzer Lehr Divison. Try this link for the history of der panzer lehr http://www.feldgrau.com/heerplp.html

Sherman, I was checking out your online pics from the link... your Hanomag looks really good, better than the stock photo's shown on hobbyshop websites. Have you touched up the paint job at all? I am wanting to replicate zimmermit on the newly released Pz IV, does anyone know how to do this on the metal surfaces? Hell, for that matter what's best on the plastic surfaces?

Hello,
Chesy thanks for the comments, I have yet to complete my 251, I'm experimenting with different things to make the mud look 3D. Elmers si proberly what I'll use. But I dont plan on repaint the vehicle itself at least not for a while. As for the zimmerit I have no idea how to do that but I know there are many people on the board who can help you with that.

Celluclay may work well for simulating heavy mud. It is a bit expensive, but it works well. As far as the side turret hatches on the MkIV, I opened up mine and the radio figure fits it there in a realistic pose between the turret and the unopened skirt armor. Did anyone notice that the hull machine gun barrel is about half the diameter of the cupola mounted gun? 21st had the same problem on the Panther but not on the Tiger, where the barrels match in size.

Centone, Seriously?... that sounds a little off the hook but I will give it a whirl. I once did a Tamiya 1/35 Tiger I by heating a small flat head screwdriver and melting the details right on to the appropriate parts ever so carefully... I think I then sanded these surfaces a bit to remove any hard edges. This worked well at that scale but I am unwilling to start that process with the Mark IV just yet... and it won't work for the metal parts anyway. Coffee grounds, huh?

Glad to see someone else figured out the sitting in the hatch pose! I do the same thing with my crew member.

I actually got my gunner to sit a little deeper in the side hatch, by taking apart the tank, removing the turret and Dremeling down part of the little "cup" that the commander stands in on the bottom piece of the turret. It also allows for the commander to sit a little lower in his hatch as well. The tank is constructed in a way that some of you more talented customizers may be able to craft an interior, say, using interior parts from an XD Tiger or M-41.

Guys,

Just got back from my long holiday and have been snowed under at work, but now I have some time....

Yep, that Panzer IV looks great! And, yes, I'd say the "L" is for Panzer Lehr.

Now, who has the best price on this beauty?

I just picked up mine today, I know, ...everyone else has already got 5 of them! Has anyone done custom side skirts/ plates yet? It looks like it would be easy to do, as the sides have a place to mount them...I would love to see pics of any you guys have done!

Any Panzer IVs in Northern California yet?

Hit a few Bay Area Walmarts but no Panzer sightings. Anybody else seen one? Sure would like to get one!

Finally

Post by Quixote511 » Tue Feb 15, 2005 7:46 am

Tax returns came in so I did some splurging and bought some of my favorite toys. I am pleased to say that I am overall very happy with the tank. I like the two crew members. And, the biggest detractor for me is the lack of side armor. But, all in all I am very happy and I hope she paves the way for more armor.

Panzer IV Hard to find

Post by luftpanzer » Tue Feb 15, 2005 6:10 pm

Being a new guy on the block. I really dont want to bring it up. But any one having a hard time finding the New panzer IVs I can order them direct from 21st C and Give forum users a nice discount just for helping me get my small business going. They ship 1 in a carton so it would be no problem to order them. If this is against the forum rules let me know and Ill never bring it up again. If any one is enterested they can contact me at my email.
