How many versions are there of the various XD tanks?

Post by fredricchio » Fri Feb 11, 2005 6:02 pm

Hey guys, I figured somebody here should know the answer to this :)

I just came across a paint scheme for the Panther Tank that I had never seen before, so now I'm wondering just how many there are altogether:

Panther

This makes four to my knowledge, the original camo version, the second camo version (a fan club exclusive, I think?), the winter weathered version, and now the one above.

And on a somewhat releated note, is there any difference between the Motorworks Winter Tiger 1 and the XD version?

That grey one looks like a custom put in a S1 box.....unless that's new it's never been released...3 versions only.

The Motorworks Winter Tiger is part diecast (heavy as hell) and has a harder time holding paint than the XD one which is plastic. The latter also comes with two tankers instead of one at WM.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up, Digger!

About the Tiger, though, is there any difference in the paint scheme? I have the Motorworks version of the winter Tiger, which appears to be the same as the grey version but with a winter "dusting" on the surface. But, the XD version appears to have the same paint job as the winter Panther, which is molded in a much lighter color than the Motorworks winter Tiger.

You have the following versions:

S1 Tiger which is gray in the old OD box.
S2 is the Eastern Front Dark yellow (Dunkel Gelb for you German Types)
S3 is the Walmart Winter and Gray Cold Steel versions
S4 is the Plastic On-line retailer Winter version with better paint than the WM version

Any errors Digger??

Since we're on the subject of XD tanks, I was wondering if there is a difference between the olive drab Sherman that is currently available now and the first edition Sherman that came out in 2000 (I think). :D

The Xd Sherman has officially 5 schemes:

S1 Standard OD
S2 Camo "COED" Marine
S3 OD "Bushmaster"
S4 Cold Steel Winter
S5 OD Repaint

If there are any errors, let me know!

Thanks for all the replies, guys! I didn't know about the "Bushmaster" Sherman, either. That must be the one on 21C's site that I didn't recognize.

So the S1 and the S5 are basically the same. I can remember when the Shermans went up for auction on EBAY after they were no longer available at retailers, they were going for some mega bucks! Now we have 5 different Shermans! :D

S1 v. S5

Post by digger » Sat Feb 12, 2005 6:36 am

The S5 has a much better paint scheme imo, and let's not forget the full scale tanker that come with the newer one. Also the S5 has the tools individually painted like on the Bushmaster, and it looks much better than the OD tools on the S1. Plus the numbers on the side....maybe time for some comparison pics....
Imo when you have S1 next to S5 the latter is much more realistic...
