Another Really Cool Find

Post by MIGMADMAVIS » Thu Apr 19, 2007 5:26 pm

Im not sure if this has been mentioned on this forum yet, but look what I just got in the mail!! Its a Renault FT-17, and the scale is around 1:16 im guessing, cause it seems kinda big to be 1/18, but heres the website I got it from. Oh man I wish all you guys could see it, cause the overall bulk of it is awesome. The front hatch can open, and the turret rotates, and it is pretty heavy because it is all metal!!!. https://www.monroeperdu.com/pgcart.pga?product=SPEC-06 <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/27 ... yShe"><img src="http://thumb2.webshots.net/t/57/657/6/3 ... I wish, they would be awesome to have, they do have however a much larger version of the FT-17, its approximately 1"10 scale I belive as it states, but I wish they Had the MK IV male or femal tanks, cause that would be awesome!

Awesome find! 1:18 WWI tanks would be sweet! I'd also still like a 1:18 Char B French tank.

i got one of those a couple of years ago and kamikaze got one recently. It's ok. Length is about 1/18 actually. It's too high but mostly because the tracks make it sit up too high.

The biggest problem with it is the width. WAAAAAAAAAAY too wide. Almost 150% of what it should be. Again the tracks are the culprit as they are over double the width they should be.

It's too bad because it is a tough fix. The whole running gear would have to be replaced, since it's way too wide too. The tracks and running gear on are VERY solidly. Tough to get them off without damaging the rest of the tank.

Still, if you're not too fussy it's sort of a nifty piece.

That renault looks great :D I may just have to break down and get one, and the price on the website isn't all that bad for what you're getting. It would add some interesting diversity to my armor collection.

It deffinitely is a must have, and like Aferguson said, It is a little too wide, but it still is a deffinite buy, and they guy who you get it from is a very nice guy, and ships out pretty much the same day you place your order depending on the time a day

Handmade metal WWI tank

Post by MG-42 » Thu Apr 19, 2007 10:38 pm

Looks like it's just made from ordinary sheet-metal , and bits and pieces from other hardware junk. Not a bad tank , for being "hand-made" never the less. ... 8)

Thanks for sharing !

>>> and check out the Russian JS 111 in 1/18th scale , + the price , Sheesh ! ...

This is a great buy!

Not only can you use it for WWI stuff, but the Germans actually used them for the defense of Paris in WWII.

FT-17 "hand-made" metal WWI tank

Post by MG-42 » Fri Apr 20, 2007 4:22 pm

Better get one while you still can too , before they're all sold out ! ...

... and what a real novelty item it is too , especially for it's scale , even the larger one. ... 8)

Yeah, the dio kits are very nice, and pretty reasonably priced for what you get. Very similar to Verlinden's stuff
