What's the story on this plane?

I had not seen mention of it yet?

I found that in my local WM the other day and decided to pass on it. Now that I see the aircraft all put together I kind of like the paint scheme and might have to go back and get one.

Black 12 was a very popular FW-190D9 at a particular airfield in the last days of the war.. It was flown in by a pilot who wanted to surrender to the Americans.. It was highly photographed and Teamski has some pics I sent to him regarding this plane.. I don't think there was a famous pilot associated with this aircraft, just a popular plane.. And it is one I seriously desire to add to my collection.. Some like it, some don't, but I sure do likey..

I've seen them in Phoenix and Palm Springs. I bought one in Phoenix and paid to have it shipped home. Easily my fave scheme of the bunch.
