The 21st B-25 Price discussion

Post by VMF115 » Mon Apr 02, 2007 8:07 pm

but lets Discuss the Pice here.

I am going to say it’s going to be around 89.00-100.00 the same price as the Bbi F-16 and F-18.

Can’t really be that much past the price of their f-4? what do you guys think?

I’m not all that sure what the price point on this one will be. I can say I hope it’s in the $80 range but I would pay up to the $100-130 range for one. I would hope it’s toward the cheaper end of the spectrum but it’s hard to tell. I know if they sold for $89 I would buy multiples but the higher the price, the less I could buy. This might be one of those planes that I wait to see all the paint schemes out first before I get it. I say that now but the first time I see it available I know I’ll be buying it.

No AF joke. I think the price will depend on the detail. Cockpit, front greenhouse, gunners positions all mean detail and more money. Actually the gun ship with the 75mm cannon could be cheaper that the versions with the full greenhouse. I'd guess $125. I'd be suprised at less, not suprised at up to $150.

Sure, the higher the price, the less multiples we would buy.....but really, think of the size of this beauty, how many are you going to have the room to display?

I'll wait patiently on this one, and would be willing to pay through the nose, for one of my few all time favorite planes.

A bit off topic, but anyway,
I think 21stCT should sell the base B-25 without a nose, and include a slip where you could order the noses. I would like 1 B-25 with the gunship nose (8 .50's), and the standard glass nose sitting beside it.

I want two, one for my garage and one for my office. I know I paid $120 for a 1:48 B-17 so $150 or more doesn’t sound that out of line.

I'm with TTT - I rather pay more for more detail. The B-25 is a lot more plane than the F-18, with more crew and more details. And the F-18 has no moving control surfaces which likely wouldn't fly with fans these days. It is wrong to think that it should be similarly priced as the F-18.

Ill say about 125-150, and although I woudln't want to pay that much, Id rather pay it for a good plane rather than 90 for one with lack of detail and quality.

So if these things even show at WM, at these prices they will have to keep them locked up somewhere.

I think that the $100 - $150 range would be about right, even with the small retailers. Afterall, the Avenger sold for $75 at Wal Mart and (on average) $85 at the small retailers. The B-25 is significantly larger!

(There is an old thread somewhere way down on the 1:18 forum where we were having a discussion about the size of a 1:18 B-25. I posted a picture of a Corgi 1:72 scale B-25 sitting next to an IXO 1:72 scale TBF Avenger. I've since deleted the picture from my computer, but it would still be on the thread. At that time, Aferg, myself, and others agreed that a 1:18 B-25 would be an impossibility  )

This plane is a little bigger than the Avenger not a lot bigger. The price range should reflec this so I am in at between$70 and $90. 8)

It all comes back to detail. The more detail the more money. Though, by then I hope to have a house with a basement all to myself so I can hang multiples.

Here we go again with the price setting.

Go ahead, give the manufacturer a reason to set a higher price than they perhaps would have otherwise.

Let the manufacturer set the price for pete's sake. Good grief.

Take it easy...I didn't start the thread. I do however want to be realistic. Besides, you shouldn't really think that we dictate what the price will be. But we might dictate how much detail is expected by the collector group.

I agree with VV. The more we discuss what we're willing to pay, the better the chance the plane will be priced higher than what was intended.

The price will have to be kept somewhat low, as that's 21c's schtick. So i would say it will be the same as the F4, and come with two crew figures. $89.99.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

I don’t think 21st is going to base the price of their B-25 on what we are willing to pay or not willing to pay. But I do think there are a lot of registered users who do not post here, and who sell on Ebay are not afraid of jacking up the price a bit.
Just remember the market dictates the price, they also have to sell them at WM and other online retailers.

I do think we do play an important role in quality control and the level of detail that is offered in our prized collectibles, but not the price.

caesarbc wrote:If they plan of selling them at WM, which one can only assume at this point, WM will hammer them on high prices.

I used to audit a compnay that sold at WM and their staff said that having to meet with WM buyers was worse then having your teeth pulled. WM basically sets the price. If you don't like it, WM will go to someone else or drop the item....case closed, almost no negotiation.

I can't imagine seeing B-25's on the WM shelves for $125 and having them sell. It's just not happening.
I agree, I can some jackaroo selling them on ebay much higher then that when they frist come out.............if you value your money stay away from those ebay auctions.
