NY Toy Fair only weeks away!
With the NY Toy fair only weeks away, I'm excited to see what is going to be shown by 21st! Maybe the Avenger and the F-104. I wonder what else might be in store. I can't wait! What do you think they will have?

They'll have nothing
I think we'll most deffinitely see alot of products that have already been released, perhaps in different paintschemes.
The Avenger and 104 are excellent possibilities, and I hope we do see them because that will mean they are just that much closer to reality!
Then, with 21st, anything else is possible. I think they really love whetting our appetite, then letting us get to the point of starvation before bringing out the caviar.

I was hoping for some good figure news, but as I recall the last time 21st really said anything about their plans, they mentioned the next year would be 32X focused? Or maybe I'm just remembering wrong...
Anyway, I'd like seeing something about those once reported army builder sets, the Japanese, perhaps OTHER figures... Some new armor may be nice too. After that I really could care at this point.
The Marines are out, I'm happy as a clam, but at the same time there ain't diddly to look forward to either unless another company is doing it. Hopefully they lay some news out, but they seem to be secretive now that they have legitimate competition too.
I'm more curious about BBI since they're generally more public about stuff... I'm wanting to see Dusty Trails' lineup too. 21st I'm not so sure will be any real surprise... Could be wrong though, as Toy Fair is still a big to-do for small companies... Large companies too, actually, but it's just becoming slightly less important over the years.
People I know are going (I was hoping I could this year, but once again thwarted by commitments here) so I'm hoping for some pictures from the show of the booths/companies I was curious about and would've tried to go see on my own had I been there.

16 days away in fact. I've found it to be somewhat disappointing the passed couple of years so i'm having more guarded optomism about it this year.
I dont think we'll see much in the way of surprises from 21c; though as stated we may get our first glimpes of the F-104 and the long awaited Avenger. Maybe a peak at the F-86, MiG 15 and Me-262 but i doubt it. Maybe another surprise armour piece?(King Tiger is my guess, for the pool).
I'm more interested in seeing what BBI shows. Last year their both was rather paultry as i recall but i'm hoping for some hints on new WWII and Modern stuff.
Then of course there are the wild cards like Dusty Trail with the western line, Palisades with the Terminators, Toy Biz with their 4" super hero line and who knows what all else.
With 1/18 scale starting to catch on in a big way anything is possible...

Huh?
You guys who are not excited are talking crazy talk.
The Panzer IV alone made the last TF for me, and it actually came out! We learned about new licensing w/ movies - and anyone who had doubts about the VN line had to be happy to learn about the Platoon stuff!
We also got our first glimpse of the Japanese figures which are going to be a reality. We even saw Knights! I'm psyched just to see a S2 paint scheme on the Panzer
As for bbi, we learned about their launch into WWII, we saw their awesome figure sculps, their new bird & M4, the Kiowa & Super Humvee, and they even batted around ideas on different lines.
Go back to the old thread on TF and you will see it was FAR from "disappointing." It was an awesome time for this hobby - the future became very bright. I'm willing to bet this one is no different - we will be pleasantly surprised. Now I need to think of a way to break into the Javits Center....

dude...i was talking about last year's New York toy fair in Feb. That's the big one and it was fairly disappointing.
The little toy fair that took place in the fall of last year contained all the surprises. So my point was (and still is) that i am looking forward to this years New York toy fair with downgraded optimism.

yeah, figures are what have me hyped, but beyond learning more about what we've seen glimpses of, I can't think of much that will show... Maybe they'll surprise, but last year's Toy Fair was a disappointment. The shows over this year like Comic-Con, Fall's smaller toy fair, etc., all showed some interesting things... Planes aren't my bag though so if I don't see some figs and armor that are new or show progress on things we've gotten glimpses of, then I'm gonna be somewhat disappointed...
BBI, I agree, has the greater hand to deal what with their ventures into WW2 now. I'd dig seeing those army builder sets from 21st though, the Platoon line looked interesting, and I even would like to see the Sahara 1:18 figures...
I'm not even counting Dusty Trails or Palisades in these things... I wholely expect something different from them, but i'm thinking of them almost separately too. 21st and BBI are the two we've watched for years, and who haven't overwhelmed us at Toy Fair int he past like we'd have liked.
21st's definitely improving on getting things moving... Still seems small potatoes, but they're moving new stuff out the door a bit better.

Well I'm also looking forward to seeing the F-104 from 21st Century, as well as the F-86 and MiG. Also the 2 Panzer IV repaints, and any other new tanks they might have planned. And I hope they'll sneak in a few more modern vehicles, like M113 and M2.
But I'm really looking forward to BBI's display more than anything else. I'm hoping they'll have a new fighter; personally I'd love to see an F-14, or an A-10. I also want to see if that futuristic military line they were thinking over is going to happen, I really hope it does. And I'll be interested to see what else is coming in the WWII line.
Oh yeah and I hope they keep making modern vehicles. I'd like to see an Amphibious Assault Vehicle, and a Comanche for the next helicopter. I just hope that TRU's clearancing out of the M1 and LAV doesn't mean they're not going to pick up any new stuff

need a pass!!!
can anyone get me a guest pass?? I live and work in NYC, I could sneak my digital camara in......tomd
AAV7A1
A Comanche would be silly at this point as it is no more, but an amphibious assault vehicle would be awesome! I was thinking about what Modern armor I would want to see next and I think that would be it. Such a cool vehicle, and it would only have to be just over 7 inches wide, and just over 17 inches long. This would still be huge, but not really bigger than the M1A1, just shaped differently. I look to bbi for this one - their commitment to modern seems stronger, and they are not afraid of big-a55 vehicles. I would pay $60 the day it came out if the detail was even close to the M4.

You mean they wouldn't even consider it because its been scrapped? I just figured, since BBI has released so many helicopters, that this would still get made. But if not, what would be their next helicopter? Other than doing their own version of a Super Cobra I'm not sure what else could be feasible

well, given that the real comanche is no more i think it a lot less likely that we will see a 1/18 version, if for no other reason than that BBI may perceive that sales will be poor now. To be honest i would have less enthusiasm about buying it as well, now that it is relegated to being an historical curiosity rather than a front line machine.
As for next chopper; good question. I can think of lots of possibilities but whether BBI will have the onions to make them, i'm not sure. Aside from variations of what they have made (eg Sea Hawk) maybe a SeaKnight but i doubt it.
There are other interesting helo's in europe like the Lynx, BO-105, Tiger etc but i don't know if BBI would go in this direction. Thus far they seem very US-centric in their selections of everything. A Hind would get my vote for desired next choice but i doubt we'll see one.
Hope they prove me wrong...

I saw an interesting helo called a Sikorsky S-64 sky-crane that would be a cool choice for a helo. I think the ch-47 chinook may have replaced it though. Sometimes you can see those S-64's out west putting out forrest fires. Anybody know if these have been scraped also? I mean for military purposes.
