Deep discounts at local Wal Mart

Post by mondaytanker » Wed Jan 26, 2005 11:01 am

Stopped at a local WM. In the toy department there was a sign reading "more clearance toys in the lawn and garden department". So I went over there and found two Tigers marked down to $38.00. WOW! they are just giving them away! (being sarcastic)

On the plus side they had two black ME-109s, nice looking planes.
:D

Just giving away at $38? The Tigers at WM usually go for the standard $40 price... Not much discount there. At a small retailer, however, the tanks go for $50 and are plastic, so you have a discount with regards to that.

I know, I'M KIDDING! If they are to put them on clearance then they should mark them down more then $2!
I had to laugh. :D :D

Funny, just before the Christmas shopping season (October), I was able to pick up several new XD metal Tigers for $15 at my local WM.

Just the other day I got a Tiger and Sherman for $15 each. The only WM with these left had only 2 Sherman's in boxes that looked like they'd gone to war instead of the tanks themselves, and the Tiger's just sat there while all his Tigery brethren flew off shelves.

Unfortunately they're the grey variant, not the white, which was what I wanted, but for $15 I'llp aint up my own one then.

The other Sherman's damaged I believe so I'm skipping on it, but the one I got was fine, its box was just destroyed.

Right alongside them was every M113 this store had, which just went out like last month. And as far as that goes the Tiger had just shown in around November while the Shermans were there a while, but this store had maybe 2 dozen Shermans at one point, so clearancing 2 is a pretty good run I think.

So they jumped the gun on clearances I guess... The M113's are all $38 though, which is odd. Considering they sucked I don't blame them there, but $38 only? Eh.

Post by gordon24 » Wed Jan 26, 2005 4:44 pm

I saw the 1/6th Scale Stuart marked down to 70.00,so when I got it to the cashier it rang up at 35.00.I scurried home, proud of myself.returned the next day to see they received another shipment prominately displayed on an end isle for $ 149.95.I guess I just got lucky, and badcat didn`t get `em all.Still havent seen the 109 G in wal mart yet. Also got a tiger for 15.00.

Winter Tigers

Post by xddave » Thu Jan 27, 2005 2:58 pm

Was lucky and found a winter Tiger at a local WM for $7.50. Blown away when I got home and got a good look at the tank, diecast, great detail, turret interior, the works. Really a nice replica.

Unfortunately that was the only one they had, and the only one at that price I've seen since.

Dave, welcome. Glad you were introduced to the Tiger - and at that awesome price  !
It's worth it at 40, but that much sweeter for less

Yep, looks like WM is starting to clear out their XD merchandise. I recently came across some M113's for $15 and some Spitfires for $25. These items have been sitting around on the shelves for awhile and I thought I'd never see the day when our WM's would discount anything.

The Tiger 1 and the Desert M113 are $7.50 at the Normal, Illinois Walmart. The 1/6th Stuarts are $35 and the new USMC one is going for that price until they catch the mistake. Yeah, I did get one for the $35.

If only the stores here would clearance their helicopters now. Every WM I go to has a stack of Huey's, Apaches, and the odd plane (Stuka's now mostly) gathering dust... Stuka's are new, but not moving it seems.

The Choppers are OOOOOOLD news though, and they couldn't get outta there soon enough to suit me.

The M113 for $7.50? Nice. Wish I coulda found them at that price. :) The Stewart's great too. I'd love to have gotten one of those, but they sold out here at full price, much less clearance. :( I figured they'd sit so I passed... Biggest mistake I ever made since I was really wanting one of those (even if I don't collect 1:6 stuff much). Oh well, live and learn I guess.

Mix and match of discounts here

Post by fullyautomatic » Sun Jan 30, 2005 1:45 pm

8) The Wal-Mart toy dept here in Hendersonville,NC looks like a war zone.Everything is spread out every where. They have had 1:18 planes there since christmas and still sit at the $40.00 price.I asked one of the workers who was marking things down but those planes were not on the list. All the Tigers and 1:32 items are all gone and they had tons of those up till three weeks ago. Here is what they did have.
M113A2 Personnel Carrier $14.00
Motorworks 1:18 P-40 Warhawk(4)
MkI Spitfire NK(5)
$39.99 P-47 Huckle De Buck(2)
P-47 Yellow Checker Tail(1)
21st Century 1:6 Kubelwagon(3) $58.00
21st Century 1:6 MB Jeep(4) $58.00
21st Century 1:6 M5 Stuart Jungle Fever(6)
M5 Stuart Green(4)
M5 Stuart Tan(1)
All remote tanks still at $150.00
So not the great discounts that everyone else is seeing but maybe someday soon...The biggest discount I saw was on the Star Wars Millenium Falcon reg price $58.00 marked down to $25 and they had tons of these.

I picked up two tan M113s at WM this weekend for $10, They also had about 10, 1/6th M-5s marked down to $110 BUT every thing on clearance was another 50% off, so that would have put them at $55.

They have all been picked over. The ones in stock when first marked down lasted about an hour.

35.00 Stuarts

Post by Razor17019 » Wed Feb 02, 2005 6:32 am

I went and checked my WM last night. There were several Stuarts @ 171.00??? These are the same tanks that had been selling @ 149.00 before Christmas. Why would they increase the price?? I am totally confused!
As a side note, they did have some 21st Century 1/6 Jeeps and Kublewagons with figures.

With the history of WM mispricing 21st items way below their actual retail prices, it was bound to happen that they would misprice an item higher than it's retail price. :D

My Wal-Mart is weird. :?
First time I saw the Tiger, it was $10.00, so I bought a few. Haven't seen anymore since.
First time I saw the Desert M113 they were $10, so I bought a few. Saw a couple after that, and they were $10 also, so I bought a few more. Haven't seen any since.
Right now my WM has FW-190Ds, $39.97. Still there.

Why they marked down the armor right away and not the planes is beyond me.
I do know all clearances at WM stores are done by the manager, that's why not every store has clearance prices.

Guess the manager at my store likes planes and not armor.

Oh, and this WM has 4-6 "tan" Stuarts and 2-3 USMC Stuarts, all at $149.97. No Jeeps or Kubelwagens. :(
God Bless America.

The 3 walmarts in my area haven't had any Motorworks/21st Century XD since before Christmas.
