I only have two questions concerning the Skyraider:

Will it be a VN-era Navy/Marine SPAD, or an AF SANDY?

actually it was the Tempest that chased V-1's not the Typhoon. Similar bird but not the same. Griffon engined Spitfires, specially modified P-47's and P-51's also were able to catch the V1 in level flight.

Anyway, back to the Skyraider, it was one of the mainstay aircraft of Vietnam, as fundamental to close support and search and rescue as it got. Their high payloads and long loiter times made them the only plane for the job in many situations.

BTW, that scene from Flight of the Intruder is pretty much bogus. Hardly any ZSU's saw service in Vietnam. Only a handful arrived, during the last few days of the war and they didn't engage a single American aircraft...it's a cool scene but pretty misleading, historically. Reallity sux sometimes... :P

I'm done, Sandy. I'm all screwed up. My back's broken. They're everywhere. I'm sitting on a ZSU. They're using me for bait.

without you!

Do it, Sandy. Lay it in on me, man. I'm popping smoke.

Do it, Sandy.

Do it now, I'd do it for you.

But the A-10 and Tempest / Typhon is on it. :D The only way I would get one is when they put it on half price at Wal-Mart. Wait a sec it is a Admiral product . Oh well eh :? :? :?

I agree, camo is the one I want.

Not that my 2 cents is worth any more than anybody else's, but here's my contribution...the top 3 planes on my 1/18 wishlist were a Dauntless, a Phantom, & a Skyraider...2 outta 3 easily qualifies as a Wildest Dream Come True, right up there with Sienna Miller sharing my sleeping bag & body warmth...any variation Skyraider AT wants to produce, wrap it up, I'll take it...it's gonna' be a good year...

Definately better than a Dauntless, Definately!! This is just way too cool that this plane is being made in 1:18 scale. This gives me hope that over time, we will see a good number of planes in this scale. But I still think it's too many radials all at once!!

Here's a couple that I took pictures of a while back. These aren't what I am capable of, so back off Britt! I just have a hard time with planes that are moving too damn slow!! In noticing the overhead shot, I didn't realise that there were some with landing gear fairings and some without!

Just kidding about the Dauntless! That one is worthy too. I will buy at least one of every plane that comes out in this scale, even the ugly ones!! :P A plane is a plane is a plane!

Great choice for a plane! Not sure whether I'll get one or not, but it is a cool plane nonetheless! It will fit very well with the Cold War era planes that we are seeing from both AT and 21c - and would go very well with one's Viet Nam collection, assuming one gets made in the SEA cammo pattern. The Skyraider also has the advantage of a number of different paintschemes and even variants that can be made. Way to go Admiral Toys :D

I think a Skyraider would be a welcome addition to most peoples hangar, it's an aircraft with a solid combat history, and plenty of possibilities for repaints. Someone else mentioned the Typhoon, I would definitely buy one as long as it was the 4 bladed prop version. The Typhoon is a great looking warbird with a classic British pedigree, and It would be great to see 21C, BBI, or Admiral produce one in my opinion.

A Sky Raider huh, well thats cool for those who want one but I will pass. I'm sure its going to be a great looking plane though in 1/18th scale. I have the Dauntless, Old Crow and the Hellcat to look forward to!

For anyone who's seen Flight of the Intruder and liked it, please read the book. That movie was such a disappointment compared to how excellent the book is. The sequal Final Flight is a very good book as well.

SO AWESOME! Glad to hear about a Skyraider! I have the luck of seeing a A-1H Skyraider quite often and should be doing an air-to-air photo shoot with it and another Skyraider pretty soon. She's a lot larger than they appear in photos...

I would assume the Navy Attack Squadron scheme would be one chosen since it seems to be one of the most popular schemes. Can't wait!!!
