a bit O/T McFarlane Soldiers sneak peak

Post by aferguson » Fri Jan 21, 2005 12:50 pm

Figures.com has the first picture of the upcoming McFarlane Soldier line. They are 6-7 inches tall (about 1/12 scale). Probably be incredibley well detailed. All modern US in the first line up.

I wish McFarlane wasn't so against 1:18 figures. I've read interview before where he said he wouldn't do them again after the Spawn movie figures. The detail they put into the figures, I wouldn't mind a lack of articulation.

i agree. he's being blind to the fact that it wasn't the scale that made the little 4 inch-ish (they wre actually closer to 3 inch) movie figures bomb....it was the subject matter.

i just saw the entire '05 line up for McFarlane Toys. They are doing either 6 inch or 3 inch figures only. Looks like they are deliberately avoiding 4 inch figures. 4 inch figures are only the most popular action figure scale in the world....why on earth they are avoiding it is beyond me. Maybe Todd was traumatized by a 4 inch action figure as a lad..

Hello guys!
Personally i would buy more of those figures if they were 1/18 and or 4"...because the 6" line is not that great....but the figures look really good.
Maybe they should try doing a poll and finding from people what we really want!
keep me posted.
HOOAH!

I would snap up those McFarlane soldiers in a heartbeat if they ever release them in 1/18 scale. I have a few of their sports figures and their attention to detail right down to the head scuplts is incredible! Let's hope that McFarlane will soon realize they are missing the boat when it comes to offering 1/18 scale action figures as part of their lineup.

yaknow i hate to be the voice of dissention, but i personally don’t mind if he doesn’t do 1:18 (sorry guys, let the "mutinous dog" comments ensue)

yes i would like it if he did make 4 inchers, but since Plan B toys came out with their spec forces and emergency services figs, i have started collected 6 inch a little as well,

i have to say that my biggest beef would be that they aren't articulated, maybe that’s just the mock up photo, but if when they go retail, they aren’t articulated i would have a hard time purchasing anymore than just a few of these.

Unarticulated is not worth much to me, but to each his own. I think why we say we'd love to see these in 1:18 is because we've never gotten them. With all the companies, competition, etc....nobody has given us just what is shown there. The Dusty Trail 6" guys have the same thing that I envy - standard looking modern soldiers. Not SF, Delta, SWT or the like. Also Accurate I hate that bbi only has the mold for an m4 w/ 203. Anyway, we don't need them from "Todd," but we could use some guys who look like that in 1:18.
