2 new F-104 schemes

Post by digger » Fri Dec 22, 2006 3:02 pm

I see the Cat has some new 104s up for pre-order. Can't say I blame 21C for another silver one as the George AFB seems to be pretty in demand already. The Tiger is very interesting, I wonder how it will be received.

Will pass on another silver scheme, but the Tiger stripe is just too unique not to pick up.

I will probably get both of these birds. I love the brightly marked, bare metal cold war birds, and the tiger meet CF-104 is just too cool. I did notice in the pictures that these two birds are S5 and S6. So what is S4? S1 is the USAF silver, S2 German Marine, S3 USAF Camo Smoke II. Didn't somebody mention awhile back that S4 was supposed to be a German Luftwaffe?

I am not into the rainbow marked USAF livery. But, the Tiger Meet is schweeett!

I have pretty much ignored the F-104 so far--somehow, it just didn't appeal to me. But the new Tiger Meet paint scheme may just convince me that it is time to make space for one in the hanger... Nice work, 21st!

Nice schemes but I've never really liked the F-104 so I will leave them for one of you guys.

They look pretty cool, but I think I'll pass on them as well.

I'd buy one if 21C made one in JASDF markings...

JASDF was actually supposed to be one of the very first schemes they came out with on the Starfighter. I wonder what happened to it..

Man I just picked up the Smoke II - I should have held out for the next US version. Love them both

I like that 21st Century is going internation, making a Canadian paint, but I dont like eithier paint schemes.

I really want the Bavarian paint :(
I never buy two of the same plane, but this is the only exeption. It would look great next to my Luftwaffe F-104

I have samples of both of the new F-104 schemes here at my home. I have taken some shots outside at various angles. These photos will be posted in articles on AREA-21 later this weekend. Hope that will help those that are interested to see what these new schemes look like close up! FYI- The CAF Tiger Meet is VERY sharp in person!

Display space is at a premium for me now, but the CF-104 looks awfully tempting.

I've seen those closeup pics of which TKO speaks...

I will agree that the "Tiger Meet" F-104 is really cool! When I first saw the pictures, I was kind of put off by it - being one that favors more conservative, standard, aircraft schemes - but the scheme sort of grew on me and I think its pretty neat. Aferguson, Zartan, and some of the other Canadian members should be quite pleased that they finally got an aircraft in Canadian markings 8)

In regards to the S-4 paint scheme, once upon a time, I saw a Bavarian marked F-104 up for pre-order on Ebay. It had a blue and white(I think) checkered tail. Looked pretty sharp. That might be what the S-4 scheme was suppoed to be.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

The Bavaria "tail" is exhibiting one of the many variants of the historical Flag of Bavaria.....the blue and white diamonds are flown with and without the Coat of Arms. I have pasted, below, a few of the variants; they are thumbnails, thus expandable.

I would like to have a Bavarian marked F-104 in my collection but I hope some day they add the airbrakes to the airframe.

Moth--don't feel alone on the anger post--I was ready to leave a post to ask which execution method he preferrerd--slow conscious dismemberment with a rusty handsaw, or being tied to engine block of a tractor and driven around until well done.
Oh wait, I just did leave that post :D
