POTC3 Figures

Post by Morian Miner » Fri Dec 22, 2006 11:09 pm

Usually I stick these in Off-topic, but figured this was "1/18" worthy. Out shopping today, I found Wave 4 of POTC figures. I didn't even know these were coming out. Anyways, 3 figures are from the old movie, but two are sneak preview. One is a Signapore Pirate, but this one is the good one.

Only picture I could find, and I haven't broke out my camera. Anyways, the Elizabeth figure without the holsters makes a good civilian, but the kicker is she comes with a rice paddy bamboo hat! For all the Vietnam modelers, it beats the heck out of making your own. One of my VC customs has already confiscation it. I'm sure these will soon be peg warmers, so keep an eye out in January.

Here's a little bit better picture of Elizabeth and her fine hat.

Tai Huang's head (if it fits) would make for a good VC head swap too..

Huang's hat is glued on, although I'm sure it can be removed with some persuation. Also, he's got some nice sandled feet.

Best desciption I've heard on these is circa-'98 POTF figures. They've gotten better over the waves. The figures' hands are nearly so huge as the first wave. Personally, I like them, but then again I have a thing for pirate stuff in general.

I found the new figures at the TRU in Independance Mo. this weekend. I picked up the new Elizabeth figure to use as a civilian type but haven't had a chance to check her out yet. The original Elizabeth figure didn't have good leg articulation and her hair and the pirate hat were one piece.

Found Huang tonight.. His hat does come off (with a little help). He has a complete head and full head of hair, only thing that needed to be tweaked was a smallish knob on the very top of his head that clipped right off.

He also has a nice pony tail.

I was originally considering putting his head onto an original 21C VC figure for some variety, but after looking at him, I'm going to try and trim/sand off his armor and see if I can't just paint on some black pajamas, hand him an MJ AK and see how it goes..

Picked one of these up at Target for 4.99. Good for customizing for a Vietnam dio. Throw some palm leave foilage on them and remove the armour and you got yourself Viet Kong.
