I guess it will all boil down to what their price point is for the figures and if the horses are pre-posed like the pictures or articulated. I'd really like to have articulated horses, or at least standing versions and running versions.. It just wouldn't look right for my stage hold up with the horses still running while the passengers are making their donations and the strong box is getting thrown down...
$60 is a price that I wouldn't choke on, but I would prefer lower, it doesn't require all the details that a modern vehicles does so I guess we'll have to wait and see.
The wait is killing me....

Any pictures of the SOF 1/18 figures?...
I was wondering if there are any pictures of the SOF 1/18 figures that are coming out?
i want to see them ASAP!
personally i don't care for the cowboys and indians....but i'm sure interested in the modern Soldier of Fourtune 1:18 line figures especially if they are articulated.
keep me posted.
HOOHA!

I expect we'll see pics around the time of the New York Toy Fair in Feb, it might show up ealier though on http://www.figures.com/ as they sometimes get news and pics earlier than most other places on BBI products
Hopefully with all the eyes we have here, we'll be able to get the first updates on whatever Dusty Trail offers in 1:18 scale.
The interest in the Wild West (or Cowboys and Indians if you must) for ME is that we've already got so much "Modern" stuff out there, any other time period is welcome, be it Nam, WWII, WWI, Silly War, Wild West, Span-Am,Middle Ages, Renaissance, 3 Muskateers, French-Indian Wars.....basically anybody without 3 Color Desert, Kevlar Helmets, and an M4, MP5 or an M82a1. I'd even take some Modern "Advesaries", but Wild West and Indian Wars are top on my personal list. and if the heads are interchangable, I can see me buying the SOF guys just to do head swaps to have more Cowboys....
Also from reading the little snipet from Lee's Toy Review, I'd like to know what the "Mystery" line is going to be. Hopefully Toy Fair will shed some light on that.

Paul,
Dusty Trails got back in touch with me regarding things and they said nothing I suggested (military) was really planned at this time. They were going to talk to their R&D though about all the things I'd made suggestions on... They also said they're waiting to see how the western line plays out before they make future plans for "this scale" as they put it.
Good bunch there I found. Very cordial.
Just wanted to update you.

Wow a Toy Company that responds to the customers/fans?
Not exactly good news, I wonder what the Cannon and Gatling Gun are for if the Military guys are not planned? Maybe it is for the Doc Holliday looking figure.."Say hello to my little Huckleberry"
Hopefully the line will do well. I would have figured that the R&D guys who did the stuff for their 7 inch line would be the same guys on the 1:18 stuff or at least communicate with them.

Wow! A MAC V line and a 101st line would blow my mind!
I think if they did their homework, they would find that most all of us in MAC V were in the 101st and we retained all of our insignia from the 101st... (after all their really was no official MAC V) So i would assume it would be a group release....101st guys with some small differences, perhaps?
anyways,
i will be waiting for that day...

I am hoping that their SOF 1:18 line will include all aspects of Nam Era MACVSOG...even the squids...
I would assume since the editor of SOF was a name taker and heart breaker in Nam that all the figures based on that era will rock.
Heck with possibily of Wild West AND Nam era stuff, you'd think Dusty Trail probing my brain for my top wish list....
Gotta go put the foil on my head so they can't hear my thoughts...

That's what was discussed - whether there would have to be a new outlet for the Joe guys.Big_Iron wrote:....bummer too I needed to re-allocate the GI Joe money.
Aside from 21st there really is no other company really committed to their 1:18 military line.
This is especially true for WWII - BBI has been riding on their Mustang for about 6 months now....they need to stop patting themselves on the back and get some product out. Dragon seems to be a waste of breath to talk about, and as Iron said we've heard nada from DT. If not for 21st I think I would take up needlepoint

agreed
i agree, the toy fair was really dissapointing...no new item from a lot of companies hat we were expecting new items.
and with 21st we have the Wal-mart distribution problem...
I'm really &(*&%&*) with the toy companies and thier distributors because they make it super hard to be able to get their products.
Any ways let's see if any surprises come up!
take care,
HOOAH!

From the Dusty Trail Toys site:
Soldier of Fortune
Dusty Trail Toys is proud to announce the signing of a Toy Licensing Agreement with Soldier of Fortune. Coming Spring 2005 will be a full line of super detailed Soldier of Fortune action figures. The series will include MAC V SOG , 101st ABN " Iraqi Freedom " and Robert K. Brown himself, just to name a few. Please check back soon for more details on the SOF action figures.
Now it is Cinco De Mayo (the 5th of May)....in my world Spring has Sprung...in 2 weeks it will be full on Summer....
This and the Wild West Line really could have been great.

No new news and that is what leads to my pessimistic attitude. I mean GI Joe has died and come back from Hiatus faster than we have seen any new news on this line.
I posted those pictures from Lee's Guide of the Wild West Line in December, we've had ToyFair since then and no pics, we've had 2/3rds of Spring and no news.
I was just hoping for more by now....I need to start working on my Tombstone Diorama....and without Wyatt and Doc, I just can't "git er dun"..

Dang, one of the problems with the internet - too much information. We get to see all these cool toys manufacturers propose but never get picked up by retailers. I really wanted that stagecoach, and the line to be successful so we could get some indians scouts and maybe some Civil War figures, not to mention some of the field pieces. <insert your favorite explicative here>

I remember talking to Dusty trails a while back and they mentioned that if the stuff were to come out it would be in the last quarter of the year 05....especially after Aug 05.
so lets keep the hopes up!
take care,
