PRE and POST Christmas XD SALES!!!!!

Post by Razor17019 » Mon Dec 18, 2006 12:04 pm

Okay. We all may encounter "the sale" of XD stuff in our respective areas or online.
If you find a deal in your area WM or TRU or online, follow these guidelines:

-Give us the stardard information which store, what you found and price.
-If you can, buy more than one and offer it for sale or trade to other members.
-Post the name and web address of the vendor's sale page, so ALL can see.

Help all your fellow board members share the wonderful feeling of the post-season:Getting a really cool DEAL on XD!
:D :D :D :D HO HO HO what a deal!

sounds like a good idea. I would advise everyone still follow the safe trading rules and guidelines, as outlined in the b/s/t section and to be cautious in all deals, as always.

Lots of scammers around this time of year, taking advantage of people's good nature and trust.

As always, all deals are done at your own risk.

Also, ask about the return policies on clearance items. Some stores will allow returns, others not. If they will take merchandise back, stock up at clearance prices for yourself and other board members - if no one needs what you've found, take it back for a refund.

And to add, based on my local experiences: XD on sale? Bah Humbug! It'll never happen!

As what happened to me receintly, CHECK out the Clearance items as best you can-to make sure it's not broken or things missing. Ask for a 'gift receipt' and attach it to the items-in case something is wrong with it, the person you sold it to can just take it back without having to send it back to you.
I'd be more than happy to just get ANY XD, even at regular price!! ESPECIALLY the new D-Day figures!!!
I have had some luck lately, so maybe a Christmas Miracle will happen and I can be of help!!! :D

It does happen occasionally, however, I don't think the 3 FW 190's in beat up Motorworks boxes at my local WM will ever be clearanced.

I sometimes think some Walmart department managers go on the theory that if it sits on the shelf long enough, it will become a collector's item, at which point it WILL disappear and end up on e-bay.
Speaking of which, I find it interesting that the 1/18 Bf-109 that has sat on the shelf at my local Walmart for the past year suddenly disappeared, to be replaced by a Flying Undertaker P-51 that I recall being there back in June. I almost bought the P-51 tonight, both because I want one (but am holding out for a bbi version or an improved 21c version), and because I want to see if the Bf-109 shows up again.

Another thing to look for these days are XD items that were sitting in the back on layaway.
I have found a few shermans with the marine markings from last year suddenly show up.

I cant decide whether I want a smoke II, korean MIG 15, the chinese mig 15, or Mitch's squitch.
The Smoke II is in german 104 box. Been sitting on the shelf for a long time.

All I have to say is that you guys should cozy up to the toy dept.MGR.If you don't ask then you don't get.I went in to a WM the other day and asked about 15 fw-190 planes just collecting dust. The toy dpt mgr said she would clearence them all to $20.00.I offered her $12.50 a piece. She said if they didn't sell for the holidays she would take me up on the offer. So try it and see.The wm system works like any other credit system.Items in items out and if it sits then they don't get a re-stock.Good luck....Happy holidays.....Bigsarge

You are on to something there.. I've been to some where there was nothing one week, and then _really_ old good ebay stuff shows up the next week. Imagine it will happen even more when they clear out the layaway room for one last time.

Oh and please post actual deals from this message forward.. I'm as guilty as the rest in getting easily sidetracked (see above post).. but this is a recon thread! :D

Found all of the 21C 32x model kits on sale at Bad Cat last night for $14 (even the Priest kit).. Free shipping on orders over $60 is still in effect...

Also they had the 1:16 Wittman Tiger from FoV for $299.. By far the lowest price I've ever seen.

Isn't this the same "Female" toy manager that you are "close" to?? 8)
I don't think the rest of us can go up to the "Male" toy manager at our WM and get the same results as you would be able to...

Most toy managers in my area are already pretty closed minded to toy hunters based on their experiences with Hotwheels collectors - so I've been told.

No more excuses for those of you who claim to collect armor and don't have the bbi Sherman. The tanker alone is worth $10.
$29.99 plus shipping. If you add one fig and use Google checkout you can save $10. Go for it!

Thanks Digger! Picked up a Cobra Commander I didn't have. :P I wish they offered a larger BBI selection online though.

What is the trick to getting the $20 off of $50? I've only seen the $10 off of $30.

Well, my local Walmart had the old halftracks and mutts marked down to $17 and the 1/32 Iron Horses 2 packs for $19. But when I scraped enough dust off the P-51D I have been debating to scan it, it still scanned at $39.84... So I am going to hold out a little longer... If nothing else, for one that doesn't have blurry stripes on the wings and fuselage (or are the black and yellow stripes on the Flying Undertaker supposed to be kind of blurry along the edges?)

I really do like The Flying Undertaker, but the bent props and the poorly masked, blotchy eged stripes on every model I've seen have kept me from buying one.

Bent props I could live with and correct. The paint work, however, is getting more involved than I care to deal with. Plus the Ridge Runner was my favorite in the last round paint schemes, but never showed up anywhere nearby. BCA has their bbi Hurry Home Honey on clearance for $39, and I KNOW I can clear the $60 mark for free shipping with them easily enough, so I may go that route. I was just hoping this one locally was an exception, since I remember spotting a couple down in South Bend too.
