Since I've decided not to get any of the current series Mustangs, I'm really thinking about getting The Huff. I've always loved the F-86 and those markings are awesome.

BTW, I thought you guys might like this video I found on Youtube of a Heritage Flight consisting of an F-86 and a F-15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CPNZ908RII
The ending is very impressive with the F-86 making smoke as it does a low pass over the runway and the F-15 flys low as well. I love the Heritage Flights, I have one with a P-51, F-4, F-15 and a F-22 flying in formation but I'm not sure where to post it lol.

The S1 Sabres have arrived in Tulsa, the 81st and Lewis Store had 4 Sabres and about 15 NK Migs...

Finally F-86's

Post by jhogan » Mon Dec 11, 2006 11:26 am

Sunday afternoon I finally found the F-86-s at the WM in Normal, Illinois. I found 12 "Mitch's Squitch" stacked from the floor to the top shelve. I found a Mig 15 two weeks ago and my Me-262 was delivered last week. I feel empty becuase for the frist time since I've been collecting 1:16, I can't think of anything coming short term. Am I wrong?

Fortunately, you are wrong :D Next month is the bbi Hellcat. The month after that is the AT announcement. And if earlier rumors are true some company should be coming out with an F-5 early next year.

Just as I decided to buy an F-86 online, I happened to find myself in the WM that never has anything XD. I turned the corner and saw a pile of about eight Mitch's Squitch Sabres. After comparing all of them and checking for visible damage or defects for about 20 minutes I picked a beauty! It's about time I got lucky finding new releases! 8)

First off I have to say how impressed I am with the F-86. It looks great, the paint is great and the details are awesome. I'm so glad I found one! Now, does anyone know what the amber LED looking fixture under the canopy and behind the pilots seat in the F-86 is supposed to be? I've seen these before but never found out.

Also, is there a trick to inserting the wing screw hole plugs? Mine refuse to go in. I wanted to know if there is an easier way before I try shaving off some of the plastic on the plug. :P

The fixture you see behind the canopy is a formation light. It would help the pilots see each others aircraft in bad weather. And yes the 21st Century F-86 is an awesome model. :D

Have there been any reports of the new birds in MI? I haven't seen anything new here at all. Nothing but a few F-104's and Me-109's. :(

Nothing in the SW corner of the state so far, although I am planning a limited recon mission tonight...

This afternoon I went back to the WM where I picked up my F-86 yesterday to grab the S1 Ardennes German infantry I had spotted hanging by the Starwars figures. Grabbed three of them and checked out the XD section. They must have gotten another shipment in because there were fifteen of them. Two on the XD shelf and the rest stacked up on top. Gotta love Walmarts "all or nothing" distribution policy.

Still on the "Huff" hunt but not aggressively. Still too many WM x-mas shoppers out there. I find it best to go during the day instead of evening. Forget weekends!! Here in DFW there has only been the Mitch and NK Mig so far. Other parts of the state the Chinese Mig. (Houton & SA?) and no Russian Mig yet.

No Mig's or Sabres anywhere in the DC metro area that I have seen, but there are about 20 stores in a 60 mile radius of where I live and I can't check em all  If anybody knows where I can find any within a reasonable driving distance of the DC/Baltimore/Frederick areas please let me know, either here or via PM. Thanks.
