Is the honeymoon over with 21st and WM????

Post by VMF115 » Sun Nov 19, 2006 1:02 am

After the New Year WM will start to consider what products each department will sell, they will evaluate them and make a determination if they fit in with WM new philosophy.
Basically more PC.

Orders from headquarters:

here is what the manger from my Super WM said after a meeting.

He also said that 21st sells very well but they will start to cut back due to demand of popularity of other TOYS,

They might be adding a collectable toy section for adults and more mature kids.

He said “WM wants to improve it image” but he doubts that 21st will be in that group, they are more of a toy then a collectable.

he added, he even has a few Stukas and a P-51, In his own sons collections.

If WM is going to dictate to 21st what they makes and sell then we will see a ton of new repaints and a few larger 1:18 aircraft. I should note that I asked the “Super WM” store manger about getting any more Avengers in and he said “Nope” took more space then they wanted” even though they sold every one of them within a few weeks.

BTW I shot pool with him at the American legion tonight.

Walmart sold the Avenger, why shouldnt they sell an A-10?

I think it would fit in the same box.

Why hasnt anyone made an F-15 yet?! It is very popular, and the F/A-18 is bigger!

What ever, the important part is the companys ARE making new aircraft, ones we want or not. Once all the other planes are made, it's time for an A-10 and F-15, when thats done here comes a B-25, and then MIGS!!!!YAY!

Shin, the VN AC under your name are "A-4. F-8 and F-4" I don't see F-5 on that wish list.
True lol but I did make a thread several months back and did point out the numerous repaints the F-5 could have. Heck the Swiss AF, the Patrouille Souisse demo team, USN blue camo aggressor, USN desert camo aggressor, USN black aggressor, USAF gunmetal/silver first entry F-5A, VNAF F-5E, Tiger Meet F-5E, Singapore F-5E, PAF F-5E, USAF FWS F-5E, et al, there is a ton of repaint potential.

I am leaning towards 21st century made it....I mean they have been making 50's era jets lately...(F-104, F-86, MIG-15), the F-5 seems like a logical next step. Plus its more popular and has more repaint potential than the F-104.
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

If 21st added more hard points on the wings they could have a ton of repaints, also f-104 served in more NATO countries then the f-5 did.

also anyone noticed the canopy and the seat relation on these aircraft..!!! pls search...!!!

seat is attached to the canopy....so 1/18 will have the seat and the canopy together...or will be a way....

when the plot ejects from f-5 seat and the canopy will leave the aircraft together.....

this small detail will look great on an aggressor.....with red russian type number markings.....

also dont forget....a variant of f-5 (t-38 talon) is still used by NASA for Space shuttle operations..and crew training..!!!!

F5 tiger + tempest + typhoon

Post by supersonicfifi » Sun Nov 19, 2006 4:27 pm

Great news for the F 5 ! i ve just read an article about THE TOPGUN movie and the pseudo MIG 28 aka F 5 and that would be cool to see in 1/18 ! for my part a can t wait to see the "skoshi tiger" program F 5 tiger in SEA camo !!!!!!! to match my F 104 and to wait for the mandatory SKYRAIDER in SEA camo !!!!

PS : Concerning the HAWKER TYPHOON and TEMPEST these are in my opinion the best looking airplanes of WWII !!!! just read the book " THE BIG SHOW" from Pierre CLOSTERMANN.... you will see and won t be desapointed : the best fighter pilot book ever ! This true hero flew the spitfire and of course the TEMPEST and since reading this book i am a huge fan of this plane ( for more info visit : http://www.hawkertempest.se/ )

We have tons of T-38s flying around Randolph AFB north of town. Nothing especially exciting about the planes. I guess because I see them often that I really can't bring myself to be excited about a trainer. This one is definately a shelf warmer.

Agreed that desert scheme is nice. But, staying on the F-5 topic, have we had any other independent confirmation from an etailer maybe?

Panther: there is a 1/18 desert 109E, it was released a few years ago. If you're referring to the Macchi however, yes i agree it would be stunning in 1/18.

Oh man the cat is out of the bag! -just kidding! I can tell you that IF this rumor is true about an F-5 it is being built by someone other than 21st.

Thankyou TKO---That leaves AT and bbi in the mix, possibly. I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch.

No way bbi would make this bird. They went a whole year without building an AC at all - they are very careful what subjects they touch - this is just not a bird they would dare do imo. Still hoping this rumor is not true...no offense to Turkish but we have very little to base this on...

Finally, someone speaking some sense  I think we're over-reacting way too much for a rumor of a pulled ebay auction. I personally wouldn't mind an 1:18 F-5 (I like the look of the plane) but highly doubt we'll be seeing one from any of our major manufacturers.
