MiGs finally hit Tucson (La Cholla Walmart) - the NK paint scheme :?

I agree! The dogfight through the riverbed and over the Chinese airbase was unreal - all the more so because it was true

I ordered the Mig Alley set from the "DPAS Scale Models" guy in South Florida. Package will arrive here tomorrow.

I traded several e-mails with him and he sounds like a first class kind of guy. Great prices, low shipping & no driving.

F*ck Wal-Mart, I am tired of waiting! 8)

You guys will love the 21st Century F-86 Sabre. I have their Sabre and MIG-15 sitting side by side on my desk. Both are awesome models. If you look at the F-86 model from the front, it captures the look of the F-86 perfectly. :D

No Migs F-86 in Central Ill.

Post by jhogan » Mon Nov 06, 2006 5:35 pm

I can't find a Mig-15 or F-86 in Centrall Illinois. Over the week-end I went to Ohio and stopped at a gas station in Greenfield, Indiana. Saw a W-M and said "What the Heck" may I'll find them. Well I found the North Korean (3) and Chinese Migs (2). Now if I can just find the F-86!

My avatar is the nose art off of my father's F-86. (I had to have a bigger jacket made because my dad was one of those tall thin po-locks and I turned out to be one of the built like a brick outhouse types.) Do you guys know of anyone who would be able to paint up an AT blank in my dad's livery?

I bet a custom chopper painter guy could do it.

Found the S2 Tiger stripe Mig tonight. :D First sighting of these in Houston. The NK Mig has been pretty easy to find around here, and I got the tiger stripe Mig at a store that had sold all 8 of their NK Migs and restocked with the tiger stripe Mig.

Wow! I'm surprised how fast the Chinese Migs are moving east! It wasn't that long ago that I made the first sighting of that particular scheme. Now, if only the other Migs - and especially the F-86s - would do the same going west.

They've actually been out for 3-4 weeks now. I found 4 a few weeks ago in Fresno, Ca. I bought a couple to send to other boardmembers and did not get one myself as I already had a NK Mig. The rest of the planes have long since disappeared from my area, so the scheme must have held some popularity!

The plane did look better in person, though on a couple of the examples the stripes didn't quite line up where they crossed the seam down the center of the fuselage (Those were not the ones I sent to other boardmembers!) Personally, that scheme was not my favorite of the 3 Migs and I already had the S1 NK Mig, sent by another boardmember. I was very surprised that the two remaining Chinese Migs sold so quickly!

The B-17, F-4 display you saw was the Tulare Airport. I've enjoyed driving past that location since I was very young, particularly for the B-17. Next time your driving past, take a moment to get out and have a closer look. The aircraft are all on static display as part of an Amvets Memorial. The B-17 has been there since the 1950s and is actually in somewhat less-than-desirable shape, though it would be a good candidate for restoration. The F-4 was added a few years ago.

Found the F86 Sabre at the Liberty, Mo. Walmart . They have two left after I put one of the Sabre's and a M16 Halftrack on Layaway.

South Florida F-86 Sabres have landed at Wal-Mart.

21st Century F-86 Sabre series 2 "Mitch's Squitch".

There is one case of four at the Super Wal-Mart on 441 & Sample Road in Broward County.

On Sunday night about 10:00 pm I spotted the unopened case in the isle on the shipping pallet. I asked the clerk to open the box for me and they were all series 2 sabres. I did not take any home. They should be up on the shelf by Monday morning.

Hurry hurry before there all gone.

Finally found a NK Mig at the WM in Lake Elsinore, CA. No Sabres though. Kind of unusual also was a single P-51 Undertaker showing up. Seems to take forever for anything to show up in the Inland Empire WM's. The WM in Temecula, CA, has no 21st of any kind in any scale. Thats how hard it is to find anything in this area. Be glad to get back to Texas next year where I can find some things.
