ok ok......i'll tell you guys what it is. It's a repaint of the Ranger bike they released a few years ago.

It flies (over dunes) and you have to agree, that would be pretty sad at this point.

:)
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

1/18 Tomcat

Sad because it just retired, and it flies.

BTW I believe this mystery plane will be revealed officially@fall toyfair but we get first dibs on this board@sneak peek.
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

A Tomcat would be a sight in 1/18:

L: 41 inches
H: 10 inches
WS: 42.6

I wouldn't mind if you were correct Shin, though my wallet might..

Perhaps not a plane at all -- maybe a new Helo! I could go for a Soviet Mi-24 Hind. :D :D :D

It flies. Maybe its a dirigible. Or the Lockheed blimp they are testing. Civil War observation balloon?

Even better....SAD - Soviet Air Defense... Maybe we're getting a Mig! Like a MiG29!

Hey Mike, how about one more clue, then the first person to get it right wins whatever it is?

....SAD - Soviet Air Defense
I think this is one of the better guesses for SAD. Hind or MiG, I'll take either. :D

We are certainly not folding our tent and Friday the 13th has no significance.
I won't keep you in suspense too long as I will give you the news with an image on my Friday .
It may not be everything you want but it will please you I'm sure
So, 1st clue.."It's sad"
2nd one is "it flies". "
I am still clueless. :( :( :( :( :(

My vote would be: SBD-5 Dauntless.

Didn't Mike mention a Dauntless last year wondering why there was not much interest in this model?

Either way, Dauntless, A-10 or F6F, I know it will be an amazing model. I greatly admire BBI's craftsmanship.

Furthermore, I am personally very happy for JimBob55, if it is a Dauntless.

Then again SAD, Strategic Air Defense, would leave the door wide open.

Look at me getting all wrap up in another company’s guessing game. I must admit it is a hoot.

Birddog wrote:Hmmmm.....so now we know it flies and it's not everything we want....sadly and disappointinlgy that probably rules out the A-10 and Hellcat..... :(

Just a guess... :D
Maybe not nessesarily ruling them out. Not everything we want could mean no full arnament or features etc. Just hoping.

So the clues are,

"It's sad!"

"It Flies."

It's sad it flies?

Its sad it flies for the enemy? Migs?

Its sad for the enemy it flies?

Seasonal Affective Disorder

Okay, I think sad refers to a reaction or a look rather then a mission. SAD (Search and Destroy, or Soviet Air Defence abbreviations don't normally require an exclamation point in writing.

I have a feeling that Mike is refering to a very cool looking plane that evokes a reaction like "That's Sick!". Remembering Mike is a world a way.

(Sorry folks my tiny mind looks at little details like that)

My two cents; sad as in a Phantom or sad as in blue paint i.e. Dauntless or Hellcat

Funny people go off on this being something extradionary (which I'm not saying it couldn't be!) however no one has mentioned the Hellcat. It seems that was already in advanced prototype form at one point...

I hope its the new 1/18 WWII figures, Iv been going nutts when Mike said "did you say British" after I said could we see some British Troops in the future. Any new WWII figures from BBI would be GREAT news, But to finaly have some British WWII troops would take the cake!

It is mentioned 3 times on the 2d page alone. At least 6 people have suggested it.
