How many ppl collect more than one scale???

Post by dfoos » Tue Oct 10, 2006 10:05 pm

I was just curoius how many compulsive people like me are here. I collect 1:285 (GHQ) - 1:144 (Cando,WTM, etc..) 1:100 (more commonly known as 15mm - Flames of War, Old Glory) 1:72 (FOV, Dragonarmor, etc...) 1:32 - (FOV, 21st Century) 1:18 -(21st Century, BBI, etc...) 1:6 (Dragon, 21st Century, BBI, DID)

My wife tells me to pick a scale and stick with it, but I can't. They are all too cool in their own way. I did put the brakes on 1:48th and 1:50.

1/6 Timeless Collection and 40th Anniversary GI Joes and 1:18-PTE, bbi and XD. I DROOL over the FOV 1/32 and 21C's, but what keeps me out of 1/32 is no articulation on the figures-if they had articulation...I'd be in trouble with the wife too!

I do 1-18 everything because it is just the right size. It is big enough for detail and so that my fat fingers can manipulate things. But, it is small enough to have in quantity. I also buy 1-48 and 1-32 scale planes to hang from my classroom ceiling.

As far as military toys 1/18 and 1/6, but I will pick up an occasional piece in an odd scale if I like it, then there's also Star Wars (sold my collection of about 700 figures earlier this year and just started over a few months ago), Justice League and varrious older toy lines.

I do collect some 1/32, but I am heavy into 1/18 vehicles and also heavy nto 1/6 (mostly vehicles and heavy weapons) and I'm into 1/1 military vehicles, but not as heavy as I was "in the days" (10-15 years ago).

I'm down to a couple of scales:

1/700 for submarines, ships, and related helicopters and A/C

1/72 for everything else

I have too much 1/18 and 1/6, but I'm not actively adding to either of those collections...

I stay with 1:18 scale, but there is some mighty tempting stuff being released in 1:32 scale these days between FoV and 21st Century. But, since I am a 3 3/4" action figure (GI JOE) fan, I figure I need to just say with 1:18 scale lest I get completely out of control.

dfoos:

Several years ago I had vowed to collect only 1:18. Changed course due to some select 1:32 vehicles (21C and FOV) that I could not pass up, plus more recently with a couple of 1:6 figures (Romans) that I had to have.
My primary focus remains 1:18 however.

I collect just about anything WWII within reason. 1/6 is just hard to store so I’m mainly 1:18 and 1:48

I like to mix in real 1:1 items as well. Mainly photographs, helmets and daggers.

I collect 1/18 scale aircraft and studio scale models of spacecraft like the X-wing and Y-wing from Star Wars.

First I collected only the 1:18 pieces with a smattering of 1:6 and 1:48 as well. Then I gave in and started collecting 1:32. When I went to study in England in 2003, I got hooked on Corgi and then started to collect 1:72. Last year, I moved into 1:144. So, in short, I have in my collection:

1:6 fiugres/accessories
1:18 aircraft/armor/figures
1:32 aircraft/armor/figures
1:48 aircraft
1:72 aircraft/armor/figures
1:144 aircraft/armor

There's just too much cool stuff out there to collect only one scale and whereas 1:18 can often be dry, there are many other cool pieces to be found in the smaller scales!

I mainly stick with 1/18th when it comes to WW 2 airplanes but I did get the Merit 1/24th Eagleston Mustang and that was only because it looked so damn cool. As for figures? I dont collect those. I only collect aircraft.

For me it's just 1/18 although I still have the 1/32 deluxe playset. Don't have anymore room to house any other scale.
