SS Assortment
I just recieved my SS guys and I have to say they are pretty cool. My box is in perfect condition and its # 0139 out of 5000. reading the other posts i remember someone saying that the arms and legs of some of them are of old series one germans. My guys arms are all new articulation except 2 of them have the old legs articulation of the first series germans. anyone that bought this set, what # do you have out of 5000?? i thought it would be cool to see who has what. I'm just about to open there accessorie bag. i'll keep posting.

Three sets.
I have three sets, the one I have open is 216, Ill have to check the others.

I got low hundreds on mine. My only real gripe is that some of the guys don't have enough gear to fill the holes (ie the closed coat Germans don't have the MP ammo pouches).

ok i know these pics aren't the greatest. I chose to have there guns on there right shoulder because if you look at the bottom of there feet you'll notice that the hole on the left shoe is in the heel and on the right foot its in the sole. the peg of the stands go better in the left shoe.
When I first set them up i had the gun facing the oppisite way with the trigger facing up instead of resting on there shoulder.

The only thing I dont like about them is they all wear breast eagles. Witch is totally wrong because the SS wore a sleeve eagle. I am gona have to have a talk to Roy about that one. It ruins the whole thing, like watching a war movie where the german Tiger tanks are really M48 patton tanks.

God that kills me when they do that! I can not watch the movie Patton because of it. I know it would be impossible to remake a sh&# load of tiger tanks but I don't care it just gets on my nerves. I love Kelly's Heros because the Tigers in that movie look pretty good. It is has been said on SSHQ that they were T34. Any truth to that?luftpanzer wrote:The only thing I dont like about them is they all wear breast eagles. Witch is totally wrong because the SS wore a sleeve eagle. The SS figures are cool but the I wish 21 Century had put just a little more time in to these set becasue the could have been really really cool figures, no one else out there is even doing anything close on this subject. I do like the black Greats Coats, they look great on two off my tiger crew members. But the rest of the set seems incomplete and thrown together. I noticed that not all of the heads were big enough and two or three helmets sat kind of low. The whole no ammo pouch leaving four holes is just stupid. Why would someone think that was a good idea? The private rank on all of them what is up with that? I bought three sets and I have been selling them off with some of my staff cars that I have wanted to get ride of. I don't think I will keep any of them

With that said I love the FJ sets! I hope that 21C brings them back because those guys are so cool

I know this is off topic from the SS figures, but I think you are right on the Tigers in "Kelly's Heroes" being heavily modified T-34s. The Tigers in "Saving Private Ryan" are the same thing - the road wheels are what gives it away. If they are interleaved, then its probably an actual Tiger, (which would be rare for a movie). The wheels on a T-34 will be side by side and not interleaved. It is an annoying inaccuracy, but at least in those two films, the German tanks actually look a whole lot like German tankslsc1002 wrote:God that kills me when they do that! Well - which choise do they have? I believe there are about 2-3 tigers left all over the world. After WWII they were shipped to other countries by the russian, british and US troops and now you only find them in museums. Almost every tank that stayed in germany was destroyed and the parts were melted to produce kitchen stuff, which my country needed much more after the war. I'd like to see a real tiger, but I believe there is only 1 left in germany. So I think there were not many choises for movies as saving private Ryan. There simply aren't many tigers left and the museums don't like to give them away and the only other choise would be computer animation.
Of coarse they can not use a REAL Tiger; There are only 6 of them left. What I'm saying is build/modify the tanks used so they look more legitimate. I talking about more then just some paint and decales.MandaloreSC wrote:Well - which choise do they have? I believe there are about 2-3 tigers left all over the world.
