How kind of you to remember. Actually I did the second most common German truck The Ford 3 ton. It is actually 1:16. Here it is in case you wanted to see it again...

Kieglok:

That Ford 3T you made looks super. Did your 3T start life as a 1940 Ford 1 1/2 ton truck by Highway 61? Makes a great 3T in 1/18.

Hi Guys. Yes it is one of the Highway 61 Fords. there are hardly any visable differences between the 1 1/2 ton and the 3 ton, so I used that model. There were a number of modifications, mostly the bed. I ended up covering most of the work with the cargo cover (hand sewn from huck towel material) as only the bottom bit shows. I added the scratch built black out light, towhooks, recovery cable, jerry can holder and trailer warning sign. I painted it with Testors Panzer Grey spray paint and weathered it with Floquil instant weathering and hand brushed silver and mud. It is lettered for a Cartography unit from the eastern front.

I may do another in the tan scheme. I have to research it some more.

TTT, have you ever seen the film footage of a Opel Blitz with the 20 mm gun, making a turn so fast, that it almost turned over? The two guys on the back seemed almost unfazed by the driver`s poor roadmanship...

It looks great next to the figures (and great overall). How does it look sizewise next to a Tiger I, or Panzer?

Krieglok:
The 20mm gun on the Opel Blitz was not "secured". It just sat there in the bed with a wooden block at the end of each leg of the gun, just to keep it from sliding around but there was nothing to keep it from going up if the driver was a "cowboy".

The gun sat there so it could be easily slid off th e back of the bed of the Blitz for ground firing or if the truck was damaged, the gun could be put on a two wheel trailer.

My Opel Blitz needs alot of work. My main holdup is the wheels. I'm waiting for one of our 1/6 magicians to come up with good wheels before I tackle wood sides, glass, windshield, door glass, paint and final cutting and samding of the body:

Mein Gott, that thing is huge! I bet the mail man wonders what it is when he drops the mail through the slot behind it. I would imagine that you would be looking for 1/6 th scale tires on Budd rims. You would have to add the larger axle caps on the centers. Maybe some old Tonka style wheels or some wheels from the old Dopke line of thrucks would work. There are alot of toy truck restoration parts dealer out there that may have what you need.

Size wise, my Ford looks fine next to the Tiger and Panzer. You have to keep in mind that while the German tanks looked huge if you were an American Infantryman with a M1 Garand, they really were not all that big size wise. I was at a military show a couple years back and they had an old Pzkw IV parked in the lot. When I had my Chevy 3/4 ton Crewcab sitting next it, the tank seemed small or at least not as large as you might expect...

Thanks for the kind comments too.

Mail man knows about my toys, UPS guy knows and the Fed Ex guys know when it comes to the TTT house, and he drags those big boxes up my front steps, it's a big toy. They know, if its obscenely heavy, then it's Dodge or Jeep parts for my son. He recently received five monster tires on custom made rims, custom made for the M-37 from Hummer rims. Now that UPS guy went home sore that night.

Just received my 1/6 T-34 in almost the biggest box yet. I made the mistake of opening it on my porch, peanuts everywhere.......I hate peauts to begin with, but this guy must have cornered the market on these evil little peanuts. I'm still finding peanuts in corners. This guy included five Ruskies kitbashed and wrapped up like mummies and loaded inside the tank with peanuts in every inch of space. I hate peanuts......

Did I say I hate peanuts.

BTW, the Blitz was only under the mail slot for the pic, it normally lives in a lineup around my porch.

7thva_: the train was made by those crazy Brits, everything they do, is just draw dropping. Have you seen the ferry? unbelievable

When I restored my M37 a few years back, my UPS person was "Patty" and she probably weighed 95 lbs soaking wet. I arrived home one afternoon to find a set of front end springs (about 200lbs worth) up by my front door. My front door was 20 feet above street level, up two flights of stairs. Needless to say I had to take them back down to the street level to get them up my driveway to the truck, and it was a challenge getting them down with out killing myself. When I saw her a few days later and mentioned her feat of strength and perseverence. She just laughed and said that she worse things to deliver before...

I save my peanuts and send them to my relatives in their Christmas packages. My brother finally caught on and waited for my gift to arrive before he mailed his and I ended up getting the peanuts back.
