Exactly....I'd like to know what excuse there is now for not being able to do aircraft like the A-10 and F-4. The "box size" can no longer be an excuse. The A-10 may be a slightly larger aircraft than the Avenger, but I'm willing to bet it can be fit, marketably, in an acceptable box. Same goes for an F-4 as well. Price? Not here either. Seems like they are selling very well for the price and I'm sure an A-10 in 1/18 can be offered somewhere close to this price. (Thought I remembered something about if it couldn't be sold for $60 or under they wouldn't do it?) I'm willing to bet the A-10 is one heck of a lot simpler aircraft to tool than the Avenger which has to mean less cost to make. I can't see any part of the A-10 or F-4 that would be as complex as the Avenger's folding wing. Besides, 21st already has a prototype of the A-10 and although I know they say they would have to start over with it, it dosen't look that imperfect to me. I think it's time we see the A-10 among others have their day in 1/18..... :D

Agree Birdog. A-10 is long overdue and is sure to be a big seller
with as much publicity as it has had since the first Gulf War through now. One mean looking bird that is sure to entice even the non collectors to pick one up when they see it.

I couldn't agree more that the A-10 is long overdue in 1/18 scale and would be a great seller. I'm sure it will appeal to alot of the armour guys who aren't into aircraft.... :D Got to have GOOD close air support for your ground forces. That's what we're missing.

I'm afraid this is as close as we're going to get to a 1:18 A-10 for now.

These just came in.

What's interesting is that of all the aircraft shirts that Bad Cat could have picked to carry and sell, they picked an A-10 shirt.

Wait a minute........Someone refresh my memory, but when bbi's F-18 came out, didn't Bad Cat sell a 1/18 F-18 and F-18 shirt combo?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......................

Here's a link to a website with some cool A-10 shirts for sale. I ordered both and they are awesome. The owner was very easy to deal with and very communicative. I experienced great service from them. The "Beware of the Hog" shirt is the best in my opinion... :D

HOT NEWS!

Post by WGP Klaus » Thu Aug 17, 2006 10:45 pm

Fresh off the press:
Spy shots of the upcoming 1:18 release of the A-10. From the looks of it, I'd be willing to bet it will make all other 1:18 previous releases pale in comparison, in regards to detail. Price has yet to be determined, but from the looks of it, it will cost a pretty penny.

Ok ok ok, so it's an early Aprils Fools joke, but a nice detailed shot, make nice reference for a custom "when" the A-10's are released. :-)

and courtesy of my/our friends over at ARC (Aircraft Resource Center) heres a pic of a 32nd scale A-10 displayed in the same phase maint. configuration, recently shown at the Nat's a couple weeks ago.

Dont hold your breath guys on an A-10. Just like I'm not holding my breath for a Hellcat. Our suffering continues with no word from BBI. As a one time die hard supporter of BBI I'm starting to lose my faith in them.

Maybe its just wishful thinking but I think this year we will finally see the A-10, whether a true model or news of its release I don't know. I feel lucky.

That’s great new and a big step forward since the powers that be wanted to retire the A-10 from service a few years ago.

Has Anyone Seen The BBI A-10 Warthog?

Post by kmerchant » Wed Aug 30, 2006 10:35 am

I’m a newcomer to this forum, so it may have already been discussed, but I couldn’t find mention of it
among the earlier posts.
The plane is wildly off-scale, and it was clearly intended as a toy, not a serious collectible. The model has
an overall length of 21 inches and a wingspan of 23½ inches, for an overall scale of about 1:29. However,
the forward section of the fuselage and the wing roots are actually much closer to 1:18 scale, with the outer
wings and rear fuselage being proportionally much smaller.
I found this at Target earlier this year, as part of a toy-like series that included figures and a wide variety
of weapons and vehicles (including a hokey looking Hind helicopter). The A-10 was far and away the biggest,
most impressive piece.

Wow I just realized that this post has been up for over a year now. Thanks to all who put thier two cents in! But I think it is time to let it die. The manufacturers know we want an A-10 so there is no need to beat a dead horse anymore and it seems to be turning them off more then giving an incentive to create one. Let us metaphorically put a flag over this thread, salute it and let it slip beneath the waves.

I agree Jericoeagle1.

I definitely think the manufacturers have gotten the point by now that a 1/18 A-10 will definitely have a lot of welcoming homes. I hope the manufacturers will not let history repeat itself concerning this aircraft. I salute this thread as it slips beneath the waves with one last cry to the manufacturers:

REMEMBER THE A-10 FOR 1/18 SCALE!!!!!
