I opened mine this morning, and I'm not extremly happy.
First, My pilot is missing an arm!
The camo on the wing tops is pretty bad.
Starboard wing has some kind of mask tape that is painted over.
Flaps while are awesome split flaps, they will not open evenly.
One opens to the top and one to the bottom.
Gear is way too close together, and could be splayed due to the locks.
I'm certainly not a nit-picker, but I hoped for better fit and finish.
Ill try to get some pics of mine.

Just ordered my Bf109 G6
Just deployed my 21C Bf109 G6 (Hermann Graf's ship). IMHO this is the best plane model 21C has ever put out. It's got the little airscoops on the cowling, the wing leading-edge slats (as someone mentioned), the Gustav's heavily-braced canopy and large tail-wheel, and even the little mass balances on the ailerons.
I never thought I'd live long enough to see
pre-built models of this quality.
Way to go 21C! Let's see BBI top this one!

Hey Aferguson
Do you think you could start a different thread for 109G finds and discussion? I really have 109E's out the wazoo and dont really care to find or discuss them. Also has anybody found the 109g in wallmart yet?

Have they seperated the SKU's?? The planes used to be combined into an "Assortment"momaw nadon wrote:I would be interested in the sku #s for the 109s and 109Gs also. Thanks

Well, since this has been made into a permanent topic, I got the ME-109G a little over a week ago. I am quite pleased with the job 21st did and it is one of the best planes in the line. I love the cockpit detail, and comparing it with a picture I have of a restored 109G cockpit from the National Air & Space Museum, the 21st cockpit is spot on. They even got the yellow O2 hose! All the moveable control surfaces are a plus too. I was at first disapointed with the inclusion of the standard "ME-109" pilot, but this is the only 21c German pilot that will fit in the cramped confines of the new 109!
Someone is going to be happy to get the Winter 109 I returned to WM tonight. I don't care for the paint job and was glad to let them have it back. I used the receipt from the Trop 109 I bought two days ago. Sku's are the same.
I took the proceeds and bought a Galland 109, so I'm a happy boy tonight.
Still no bubbletop 47's in Utah though.

S2 109G
I know they're out now but I wasn't sure if anybody has opened one up yet. I have one on the way because I could not resist the paint scheme and history of the plane (and I read the reviews of the Graf). Anybody have a review of this one? Thanks.

Maybe?

With Buy it Now I figure it's in stock, maybe? Sounds like it from the description. Maybe he has the wrong version pictured?
On a side note, this seller is great - his ebay prices are better than most etailers. I guess the secret is out now....

Saw one each of the desert ME-109E and the 109 Nightfighter at the Wal Mart on West Shaw in Fresno, Ca today. They're in the regular blue 21st boxes. Nice to see something new, in the form of the 109 Nightfighter
OT: There were also about 4 FW-190s, 2 Spitfires (all in shabby boxes), one Winter Tiger and six desert Bradleys (busted boxes as well). Whole toy section looked as if a bomb had gone off...
Also saw two 109 Nightfighters at the WM at Palm & Herndon. This was a surprise as this particular store doesn't really carry XD. Its only recieved the winter 109s last year and a single Spitfire and FW-190, which may have been returns.

I finally ordered and recieved my 109G-6 from Small Blue Planet and I gotta say WOW!!! It is indeed one bad-a$$ bird. The paint scheme is crisp and clean, and the lines look great. The only real defect I see with it is that the turbocharger inlet is painted with the light side up; they got it painted reversed. But hey, no big deal. I highly recommend this plane to anybody. Hats off to 21st. They really are staying in the game!! I found none of the problems associated with the P-47 line whatsoever.

ps: I got my plane within 2 days of ordering it from SBP. I sure like ordering from them!!

I got the the Graf 109. Here are a couple review notes:
The plane looks awesome. As mentioned before, you will notice, however, that the downlock to the gear locks it into a straight line:

Note that the tires are painted brown and the strut piston is actually painted silver. A nice little touch. To display the gear correctly, you can rest the locks outside the detent, but it is a bit unstable like the 109E:

In this shot, you can see that the inlet is pianted in reverse with the dark side on bottom. A VERY minor hiccup! I like the paint details!
The cockpit is pretty nicely detailed too. The hinge on the canopy is VERY fragile and tiny, so careful when closing it on the tight-fitting pilot. I have a feeling some people will break it:

The offset gunsight is a nice detail.
The flight controls are pretty nice, although ALL are tabbed except the outboard flaps where they can be extended fully. Careful here as it can come out entirely! I wish there were more hinges instead. Don't get me wrong, this plane is Cool as Hell (CAH). The extending slats really add that bit of detail that seperates it as a model.
I really didn't want to open this one up as I only got one. I just couldn't help myself!! Now to add those decals! If you want further photos of the Graf 109, please refer to KWR190's execellent 109G-6 shots here:

Very accurate review! That plane truly is more a model than a toy. If only I had access to my Smithsonian Air & Space Museum book (Its at home and I'm now back at school), I'd scan the picture that book has of an actual 109G cockpit to show just how well it was replicated by 21st! This plane was done very well, and P-47s aside, it gives us a taste for what may be with the Avenger, ME-262 and other future releases!
BTW - Yours came with decals? Why didn't mine? Guess it has something to do with picking it up in person at small retailer instead of ordering from BCA or elsewhere...

I ordered mine online. I had a $10 off coupon and I live about an hour away. Shipping is only $6 so it pays just to have the thing shipped and I get a box!!! The decals were included with the plane with the instruction sheet along with it. So SBP hooked me up!tmanthegreat wrote: BTW - Yours came with decals? Why didn't mine?
