Find the Bubbletop in WM and the bbi Mustang in TRU. Both stores on Lapalco in Marrero, LA.

Just got my bubbletop (the silver one) from BCA and it looks great.

Lo and behold, what did I hear this morning in an e-mail? "Eileen" will be sent to me, too. I forgot about that one.

Jackpot!

"Eileen" is fantastic. Could not be any happier with this model.

What the?.....

On "Eileen", does anyone else have Eagleston's name on the canopy rail, AND F. E. Oiler's name listed as the pilot (along with the ground crew) on the fuselage just in front of the canopy?

Just received my Eileen Bubble Top from BadCat. Really sharp airplane, but the paint job is not up to par. Mine has faded or undersprayed stars and bars on the sides, checkerboard on nose is not sharp like other models. I called BC and they said they also noticed the same thing like overspray etc. I am waiting for an email to see if they will replace it.
Please let me know if anyone out there has the same dilema with theirs or I am the lone one.
Thanks
Jay

Hell, I'm used to it by now! As long as the silver finger-print paint scheme is nothing but a fading dream...................

Stopped by the one and only WalMart here in Bellingham WA. I spoke to the assistant in the toy dept (he is into plane collecting too) about the new Bubbletops. He took me in the back and there they were, just out of the container. They had 4 Eaglestons and 4 (1st version 109s) in 21st boxes. I took the best of the Eagleston and passed on the others. Paint jobs are leaving a lot to be desired on these series. See my earlier post on the Eileen I received from BCA. They are trying to move the M113 Tan (8 of them) and 3 Tigers. Down to $30 for now. He also said he was waiting for the manager to drop these down again, before he took one for himself. Seems the manager is a bit "gun shy" for taking discount hits on Hot Wheel stuff. He is holding off cutting prices on XD stuff for now. Thats it from the PNW for now.

JOC:

Are you referring to the Galland 109 as "1st version"? Thanks for the report. I sure wish I could go into the back!

In my late night ramblings, I meant to say 190 not 109. Sorry for any confusion I might have caused. If it was a Galland, I would have grabbed it. Nothing in German Aircraft other than those. Ironically, they still had 4 of the 190's still on shelf in Motorworks boxes, still at full price.

BoomBoomJr.
I know how you feel about the sucky paint jobs on the bubbletops. I also received some from BC(Eileen and Eagleson) with bad paint jobs. I called and was told that all of theirs had flaws of somekind or another. I did not feel that they were in the mood to start exchanging them either. Checking with another on-line dealer I know, came up with the same results. All of his had the same flaws, bad paint and broken parts. I found four Eaglesons at the local WalMart here and they all sucked. I finally decided on the "best of the worst". No Eileens yet. I will probably send both back to BC. I'd rather not have them, then have to pay for inferior stuff. I can't imagine what was going through the minds of those folks at 21st to let such stuff hit the market, unless, its only $$$$$ to them, or they have given in to BBI's better products. I can only imagine what the TBM Avenger will finally look like, if this is any indication of their upcoming quality.

Saw both of the new Bubbletop P-47s (Eagleston's & "Eileen") at the Hobbytown in Fresno, Ca. today. The planes looks nice, but I didn't observe it closely for defects. The cockpit, like on the Razorback P-47, is too large. The bubbletops, despite the canopy difference, are just too similar for me to warrant another P-47!

On another note, too bad you are having problems with your planes. At the same Hobbytown where I saw the P-47s today, there was only one intact out of four of the new Panzer IV tanks. Whats the deal with the quality control 21c?

Here in SW MO we are overrun with the Eagleston bubbletops and they actually on average look ok. The black 1's on the other hand suck!!!! Lousy paint jobs, broken parts, junk!! I finally found 1 good one after hitting 4 stores BUT the bloody prop is on backwards! I too am concerned how the Avenger will look (if it shows anytime in the next century that is)... Current quality of the past few releases makes me concerned about ordering online..

A short while ago someone posted a question concerning the instrument panel on the new bubbletops. Has anyone figured out why there seems to be something missing on top of the panel? Is it supposed to be open behind the panel, etc? Could it be another QC issue with 21st? Seems the new Panzer is not up to par either.

Post Bubbletop P-47 Finds

Post by donnieboy » Wed Dec 29, 2004 7:07 pm

As I mentioned on another P-47 thread by JOC, I got in a shipment of bubble-to P-47s and "Black One" Fw-190Ds. Two of the P-47s had damage, as did two of the FW-190s. I thought the fit of the P-47s parts was crude compared to the earlier razorback. Who's in charge of quality control at 21C these days, Pee-Wee Herman?
