TKO:
I live here in north Texas Dallas/Ft. Worth area and will be doing an EXTENSIVE recon on the local WMs in the area starting today on my way home from work. No offense WM69 or anyone else but I will need unequivocal proof that this bird is here in TEXAS!
DAMN!! I was THAT close!! Once again good recovery TKO and pulling up on the stick! Just dont do a victory barrel-roll yet!YES!!!!!! Avengers are now in!!!! Today is July 28th which means I didn't loose my bet!
3 more days and I would have been toast!
Now it's time to do some serious recon.

Wow, now that is news!!! $70 though.... Ouch!!!! You can probably blame the cost of oil on this one. I guess I won't have a problem with them moving off the shelves before I get my shot at them. I will still get 2, and I sure hope I get the Atlantic scheme here.
I am really shocked that they were able to fit a third figure into the turret!! That had to take some engineering.
Well folks. The game's back on!!

ps...MANY thanks for the photos guys. Helps big time.... Now if all of the plugs are missing, that would be yet another oversight....

You are 100% correct Andrew! We are spoilt!aferguson wrote:it will be interesting to see how well they sell at $70. Hopefully real well to encourage other large planes down the road..
You know, this thing is an unbeliebable bargain for $70......we're all just spoiled rotten..
Looking over the pictures, I love the rivet detail and the weathering!! This makes all the difference to me...

I just got back from the the Ft. Wright WM - none sighted...
Checking out the Florence one after work. I will post yeah or nay...
If I find any, it's going into WM layaway...
As a side note, only 2 Avengers on Ebay.
1 guy is in: Fayetteville AR (Isn't this where WM HQ is? Sorry if this has been mentioned before - Interesting...)
other guy only shows USA...

Well...good news for those in sunny Southern California. I just bought two of the Avengers at the Brea Wal-Mart. (There are still two left as of 8 am). Here is my review so far:
1. $70...worth the price for the size and quality.
2. Yes, there is a torpedo for the bomb bay.
3. The third crew member doesn't have any place special to sit...just a hatch that opens, where you can toss him in.
4. The main landing gear is very sturdy with spring locks.
5. The tail wheel locks down, but it doesn't take much pressure to get it to collapse.
6. There are wing mounted rockets included, but I'm not attaching them to mine.
7. there is a little black pitot tube looking thing included, but I can't figure out where that goes.
8. The wing fold works very well. At first I thought it would break, but it's actually pretty solid.
9. The paint app is very nice.
10. The achilles heal on this piece, appears to be the horizontal stabilizers. Unlike previous 21st century planes that had solid tabs, this one only has two tiny tabs to hold the wing on. One went on smoothly, but the second would not seat all the way. I'm sure if I push harder, I'll snap off those little tabs.
All in all...it's a really nice plane. Worth the wait.

try putting a little vaseline on the sticky tabs.....may make them slide in better. Or you can adz (scrape) the tabs thinner with an xacto knife.
For this Atlantic version you'd be better off to put the rockets on. They didn't hunt u-boats carrying torpedos, the hunted them with depth charges and rockets.
Nice to hear the quality is good. The third crewman is a nice bonus...and i'm glad to see all have harnesses molded on!

Just to give you guys a geographical reference, Gainsville, Tx is South of the Oklahoma/Texas border in North Texas. It is 'middle of nowhere' but on major I-35 highway that runs North to South. Gainsville is about 60 miles North of Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex.Gainsville TX (middle of nowhere).
My understanding of how WM product distribution works is that WM management, in their infinite quest for US domination, place WM distribution centers (massive warehouses where all goods are centrally categorized, palated and placed on trucks) within one day truck drive to any WMs within that truck drive radius. One of WM distribution centers for North Texas is on I-35 and just few miles South of Gainsville. The WM where the first of Avengers was sighted is the closest WM to the distribution center. My guess is that based on radius-drive info., these birds will start their final approach to local WMs here in Dallas/Ft. Worth within 2 days.
Everyone, check and see where your local WM distribution centers are and see if this theory has water.

I just picked one up in Modesto. They had 4 hidden above the pool supplies. Luckily, I am tall enough to wiggle one down. I already broke the rear right flap because it was stuck, but everything else was fine.
I did take apart the right side so I could fix the turret platform inside the plane. One of the corners popped out of its bracket. I also spun the platform 180 degrees so the bubble wouldn't rub against the cockpit frame.
Has anyone figured out where to put the black antenna that came with the torpedo?
I also noticed some great detailing inside the fuselage that no one could unless see they opened her up. I am happy until the wife comes home to see how big it is. I will tell her I will make room for it by selling off some things on ebay.

Hot Damn! They are in California, afterall! I've still got one more WM to check in the Fresno area, with no luck thus far, still, I guess there is hope! Thanks for the review as well.Helo Driver wrote:Well...good news for those in sunny Southern California. I just bought two of the Avengers at the Brea Wal-Mart. (There are still two left as of 8 am).
