Paint Peeling On BBI's Corsair.

Post by MightyMustang » Sun Jul 23, 2006 9:08 pm

I noticed something the other day guys when I was examining my BBI Corsair (Marines Dream now converted to Ira Kepfords #29). Underneith the cowling the white paint is starting to peel off! Not chip mind you but peel. This concerns me because I love this Corsair and now its starting to do this. Has anyone else had this problem? And how can I fix this?

Well I guess I'm the only sap that this has happened to. I will try and fix it or it will head to the scrap yard.

You can put nail polish on it and that will stop the peal, or you can use one of the many after market flat sprays that will stop it as well. The main thing is to stop the paint from pealing. To do this you must cover the edges with a paint or sealant.

Thanks Jason for the input but it wasnt just the paint but the plastic I found was cracking. So what I did was filed off the loose peices and tried to repaint it the best I could. I dont look to bad and you really cant see where I did the work due to its on the bottom of the cowling. Now I have to try and fade the paint to where it "almost" matches.

This concerns me because I wonder if this is going to be a problem down the road with any future BBI products that I buy. I'm very leary.

If they molded it in aluminum color that paint peel would look like real weathering :D
