XD bringing 18 NEW figures
hmm.
I hope you're right - I think a few would be just enough if I could use 2-3 to make 7 or 8 variations.
But there is a ton of Russian and British armor in 1/32 - just because 21C didn't make it doesn't mean they are oblivious to that fact. There is none in 1:18 scale sadly...and alreay people are saying "they would have to" make some if they released Brit or Russian figs - and it is somewhat true - it is nice to have figs and vehicles that go together...

well maybe if the british and russian figures they released did sell well than they would make a bit of armour to go along with them.....that's probably why they're coming out with all the new armour pieces we've been seeing. Figures have been selling very well and they probably feel they need to make some armour to complement and increase figure sales further. They could do a Sherman Firefly for the British and of course a T-34/85 would be the obvious choice for the Russians (although if they were smart they'd offer both the /76 and /85 turret in the same package with a T-34 hull.....that would greatly boost sales i think..)
Never say never, this scale is clearly gaining momentum, not just with aircraft but with ground stuff too. It may take time but we may see the variety greatly expand over the next five to ten years.
I just hope i''m still alive to see it..

A Matilda would be great. Heck, anything beyond the Sherman. Perhaps the M5 or M3 if they didn't want to do British figures.
I still want to know why they couldn't come up with something better than an AVG pilot for the RAF P-40. I mean, that's just plain bad.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

The word is that the upcoming figures are all new. I sure hope that's true. Although that DAK bubba has a lot of potential. Ditch the head and legs for the S1 Panzer Grenadier head, and slap on some BOB legs with paint and you're good to go.
For the record, I'd rather not have to go through all that. lol

I don't think that DAK figure is bad at all. They didn't wear shorts and short sleaves all the time you know. And they wore goggles a lot. The tunic could be better, looks like they used the S1 Panzer Grenadier torso and the colour is off but otherwise it's fine. I'm sure the new ones will satisfy our most critical critics.

Thanks Toyktdlgh! At least some people have some taste!toyktdlgh wrote:Thanks for the pic Razor. I must have missed that one. I would love to see some of these figures produced. It doesn’t look like crap to me. I certainly have seen worse. Anyone remember the APC figures?
The figure is (say it with me) Proto-type... from several years ago.
If we never got the more updated figures that we have now (US/German paratroopers, BOB 2 etc.) and 21st Century kept producing S1 type figures this is what we would of had. So, if you think about it we are lightyears ahead in "figure technology" than six years ago.
So, when you see the brand new 18 figures coming out appreciate where we have come from and how different and advanced these new figures will be.
As a side note, the M113 APC figures were by far a step backwards, but if you change their heads and arms they can actually look pretty good and stand in as a Vietnam or modern fodder.

I sincerely doubt that 21st is going to use these old prototypes. I was told that all o fthe 18 new figures are ALL NEW with NEW articulation. (ball joints in the shoulders is how I read this to be). The detail is a little lacking in that prototype and not up to par with current product development.
My guess is that these resons aer why we have not seen that figure produced.
That said.... The photo does indeed have me looking forward to the new DAK figs.
