21c XD question

Post by bird » Sun Jul 09, 2006 10:29 pm

This may have been asked before but how come on the 21st Century website all the XD figs, vehicles and playsets are "out of stock"

As XD are new to my collection I saw these 1st wave figs & vehicles and wowed with awe.
Sadly since they aren't avail I beg the question why list these out of stock items? This is such a tease :(

please remake them!!!

I think that the S1 figures and vehicles shown on the 21c site are done so for archival purposes. The site is showing what they have produced and what they are currently producing.

I would rather see them make new infantry figures as opposed to re-releasing the S1 figures. The origional figures have a funny type of articulation and their poseability is limited. They also had to come with an extra set of arms to correctly hold their weapons. Figure sculpting & articulation have so greatly improved over the last 5-6 years that to re-release these figures would be a regression.

As for the vehicles, there are repaint versions of the 21c S1 Sherman and Panther still avaliable at small retailers and you can always find the origionals on E-bay. You may still find versions of the S1 P-51 floating around, but it is now considered one of the worst 1:18 planes as far as accuracy and function. The repaints of the ME-109E are still plentiful. I actually hope 21c does not do a re-release of the origional paintschemes of those two aircraft, as they are somewhat valuable when compared to other planes that went to every Wal Mart in the country.

It would be cool to release the bombed building playsets from our collector perspective, but these never sold well when origionally at Toys-r-Us stores, with many being still being found heavily discounted in 2004-05, when they origionally were a 2000-01 release.

Now, a re-release of the Jeep and Kubelwagon would be much appreciated, as our forces curiously lack these small but important vehicles!

Bird,
Try the Trade/Sell/Buy Section of this board. There are collectors here that have got everything XD ever made plus some...
I try to help fellow board members overseas when I can.
Send me a private mail or email me: wave17019@fuse.net if you are looking for a older XD item or any of the newer re-issued items.
I would be more than willing to help you out.:D

I'll take you up on that razor. Cheers.

Good advice here, thanks fella's, 21c XD is a new thing for me in my collecting as I've only got BBi figs, no vehicles as yet.
What you say about the articulation would seem valid if they've only gone on to improve the figs over time, so a reissue would seem redundant.
My gripe with this is I'd like to have those figs from the 1st series so that i'd have a good cross the board collection of US & German troops in the ETO. So given they could be remade under the current method thats what i'm hoping for.
I found the playsets particularly interesting as i've never seen any done up for 1:18 scale, with the exception of Gi Joe and that sort of thing, i'd like to make my own, given time i'd like to remake a Day of Defeat map called "Flash" as a 1:18 scale diorama with a mate of mine. :P
