San Diego ComicCon

Post by Morian Miner » Mon Apr 24, 2006 6:50 am

Since we are getting into the summer vacation planning season, thought I would put out a general post to find if any of the companies (21C, BBi, AT, etc.) are having any special products for sale at ComicCon. Alot of the "big boys" have been showing what they will have, but if I end up going to the show, it will be for what 21C puts out (had to have someone buy me the IJ figures last year).

For those who have hit this show before, is it worth it? How bad are the lines? Anyone else plan on going this year?

I've gone every year for the past 4 years now. Lines are very very very long Friday and Saturday (so crowded, it's like Disneyland during Christmas). Often times during those two days it can take 15 minutes to get from one side of the con to the other (quarter mile long). That being said, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Comic Con. It's a lot of fun and the tyos shown off there, lately, are the new upcoming releases. Remember that Comic COn is starting to trade with Toy Fair... Comic Con is where the toy companies show off their upcoming stuff. Toy Fair shows off what's currently 'on the water.'

Wow, Comic Con is almost here. Starts July 20.

Will we see any exhibits here from Admiral, BBI or 21C? Perhaps Jason, Mike, and TKO can let us know if they will have booths at this convention.

Rogo,

I am sorry to say that Admiral Toys Inc. will not be at this show. :(

We have a lot, and I mean a lot, in the works and wish to share it at NY Toy Fair in 07.

I think the wait will be worth it. However, you just might find me at the show. I will be the one in a Admiral Toys cap. I have some business in Cali at that time and just might make it down.

Regards,
Jason

Wow Jason, when you say a lot I know you mean it. Can't wait to see what you guys have up your sleeve, maybe Jim has taken a liking to 1:18 and we might see some armor. 8)

On a side note, is that P51? The man, the myth? Good to see you, I was afraid there was an airshow mishap.

Hate to pimp myself, but... Well I will anyway. We're gonna be at the show reporting but just for SW stuff. My buddies will tell me what's up at the 21st booths and stuff though. ;)

Preview pics of this year's Comic Con will be up on Figures.com's website tonight. Hopefully we will see something cool at the bbi booth. Here's the story:

Preview nite down and nothing...I noticed Figures.com does not even have a link ready for bbi. I hope we get some recon manana or at least a heads up from Mike on what is shown. I can't imagine it would still be a secret after it is on display..

I am no official spokeperson for 21st Century toys, but according to their sales folks they are not attending ComiCon this year.

I've been down here in San Diego since Wednesday night, and sadly, there is absolutely nothing here as far as 1:18 scale military goes. What a dissapointment. Last year was great with 21stCentury's huge display and exclusives. The merit booth that has BBi stuff was just sad. Your local Toys R Us has a better display of Elite Force 1:18 stuff. If it wasn't for my other sickness (collecting Star Wars stuff)...this show would have been a big bust.

i've emailed Mike to ask why there is nothing at the Merit booth. I don't know if i'll get a response or not as he may be busy.

I hope they're just late getting to the show. It would be nice if bbi would actually give us something "NEW" to look at.

Wow! This does suck! What's up 21st and BBI? Biggest show on the west coast and nada? I was looking forward to going to the 21st Booth again also! and passing by the BBI booth and asking questions and getting blank stares back and misinformation! - Ooops maybe that is why no one is there!

Well all sarcasim aside, that is a bummer to hear that there is no 1:18. I am headed there Saturday so I guess I will be looking at all the SSC and movie stuff! Means we have to wait until Feb??? Ugg!

Taking even more wind out of my already deflated sails for 1:18.....
(is that how the saying goes :? )
It is the dang toy companies that have sometimes made me want to stop collecting toys!!!

Boy, I'm glad I didn't go. I was planning on going, based on what 21C did last year. But when they would never commit, I decided to stay home. Good call, maybe next year.

Just got back from the Star Wars FanFilm awards ceremony. Yep...just to confirm, there is nothing new from BBi at the merit booth (which is like 10' by 15' anyway). there is no sign of 21stcentury anywhere. I'll be back on the floor tomorrow, and I'll see if theyve added anything.
