Getting 21C back at TRU

Post by digger » Sun Jun 11, 2006 7:56 am

In hopes of seeing any of the upcoming 21st products at Toys R Us - something I think a lot of us would love - I have wrangled what is supposed to be the email address where we can send our request that TRU start to carry the line again. Please email (no threats, doubt those will work) the below and let them know we would love to see 21st Century Toys back at TRU. You could get elaborate or not, but I figure a little push from the fan base couldn't hurt. Almost like writing your congressman: [email protected]

I believe this is a woman although I am not sure. Don't think it matters - this person makes purchase decisions for TRU and we need to let her know that we would love it if 21C was back at TRU. If you have time, drop the line! :P Thanks!

Thanks guys - I have no WM in my area so the TRU option would be great.

I would be in huge favor of this! My TRU is much closer and far less crowded to get in and out of. (super WM are a bit of a marathon race). I am going to write in as well.

I hate to throw water on the embers but the buyers at TRU would probably rather sell their first born child than try to compete with WM.

The fact is, buying for retail sale in today's business climate is numbers and performance driven, plus a huge dose of hubris in the case of WM.

There's a reason behind the "always" statement in WM's low price hype.

What does competing have to do with them carrying a certain product. They are a toy store. They carry many toys that Wal Mart also carries.

I would also agree that the price does not always influence my decision to buy. If I don't have to fight the crowd or if the TRU has better selcetion I would not mind paying more than WM. Don't get me wrong price is important but selection is nice too.

Gotta have the product in order to buy it in the first place right?

Cor blimey, guv'nor - you Yankee dandies don't know when you're well off, bless your little cotton fields!

TRU in the UK is not a patch on TRU in the US - I know, cos I've tried 'em both! I managed to get a BBI Kiowa Scout for $20 from a smallish TRU in Florida whereas the ones I've been to here - even though they're about 2-3 times the size of the one over there, are full of such mind-expanding delights as Barbie (a true example to women everywhere!) and the 'new' Action Man (it's GI Joe, gorram it! The real Action Man was much more life-like and didn't look like he was on steroids!) - no BBI, no C21, no Admiral - we don't even get decent 3-3/4" figures in TRU over here!
About the only way to get anything is either holiday in America or order online and wait ages (and get screwed over by UK antiquated Customs and Excuses...)...

If you can manage to get TRU US to start stocking decent stuff, can you put a word in for us over here too?

(Note for Ja & any other Brits who may know - is this problem unique to the South of England, or does the whole of the UK suffer it?)

E-mail sent.

Sincere non-threatening letters from many will get noticed.

Her name is Deborah Terrell.

A word of advice upon the last note there is to not send your mails right now... Wait'll she's back.

Nothing would piss me off more than coming in the office after vacation to see my in-box filled with a TON of emails from people I do not know about something like this... :)

I'd wait'll after June 20th sometime to drop the note if you haven't already done so.

 JJ is right. I hate my inbox after being away from work for even a day. Hopefully the people who did not get the automated reply got their emails read before she left. No response is a good thing, I wouldn't expect one.

Crazy that this was almost exactly a year ago..
Not foolish enough to think we were behind this development but sure is nice to think our efforts played a factor.

I think sending such an email to TRU is a good idea. The armor dudes also should write that we would love to see new tanks. Roy said they can only deliver the stuff that the stores order. And I'd like to see far more tanks, halftracks, Scout Cars etc.
And again - it is spelled WeHrmacht, guys...

Working with mass retailers takes a long long time. I would like to think some of our messages made it to a decision maker. It's only a part of the puzzle but I suspect it helped for sure.

The thread started a year ago - the email address wasn't meant to be her current contact info...
However, it sure would be nice to get 1:18 other than PTE at Kaybee.. 8)
