Agreed.

But, I'm still going to pick one up, once I finish my basement spring cleaning project and get some of my 1/6 stuff sold off...

I doubt anyone ever releases this in 1/18...

Well i'm still going to hold out for a 1/18 scale one. I feel that someone will make it one day. If not, then these Trumpeter models will still be around..

I had a look and a play with one of these, was quite impressed, and the price is right too;ordered one already.I'm mostly into 1/16th tanks anyway
and all the 1/18th stuff I buy is the 'compromise' part for me,but it's all near enough, rather than not have a lot of available models if I stuck to 1/16th all the way! Also got a D'Day Warhawk on the way (on ebay for $35)to go with my Mustang,Stuka,ME 109 and FW .Oh,I have one of those Playmobil Victorian Dollshouses on the way too that you guys talked me into. And I mustn't forget the Farmhouse,Hayloft and Fountain that Razor is sending over;gosh I'm having fun,and the Mrs doesn't care, hehe!!!

I saw a kit today of a 1/16 t-34. Can't remember who made it, but it was not an RC kit. I read here the static version has an interior? Anyone built this kit, and is it any good....also, what do the 21st 1:18 scale guys look next to it. Someone please post pics! I'm very curious to see if the scale is close...that pic above with the RC one doesn't look too bad.

There are FOUR different versions of the T34 with full interior, they are TRUMPETER brand, size is the same as the RC kit.

Ok , went back today and yes ,it's a Trumpeter kit...I opened it and looked inside. WOW, I can't believe the detail on this kit. Photo Etched parts and all. The tracks go together one at a time. The interior detail is amazing....but so was the price...amazingly expensive. They were selling the kit for $167.00, but they told me with a discount I could get it for $115.00. I wonder if it's really worth the $115.00. Still, from looking at the size of the seats, our 1/18 scale guys would fit perfectly....but we would have to scratch make some Russian Tankers. Anyone get this kit with the detailed interior and actually build it?

I bought two version of this kit, the T-34/76 1943 hardedge, mickey mouse version, and the factory 174 T-34/85.

I built the T-34/76 and $115 is worth every penny for you. (I got mine for $125 each shipped) The PE parts alone in these model would cost you probably 50-60 dollars if it was made by some aftermarket company.

Great model to build, if you have the patience for it, seeing that the model have over 600 parts.

Googly, how did the kit turn out and can you shoot some pics and post them? I saw some photos of one online at some site when I did a search, and the guy did an amazing job!

THAT'S why I'm going to buy a pre-built R/C version with no interior. I just don't have the time to build a 600-piece model.

Heck, I haven't even finished the putty work on my M-113's...

Hollywood:
I'll re-take some pics of the T-34/76 I made a few months ago tomorrow. I posted pics of the same model a few months back, but my hard drive crashed and lost all the photos.

Anyway, I'm trying a new wheathering technique that I read about on all my models, and see what you guys think of the result.

GooglyDoogly, any chance you could repost the comparison shots you took? Also, you said the hatches are glued closed. Do you think it would be possible to re-open them, especially the commander's hatch.

Thanks for any help you can give. :)

i've already fallen to a certain extent, having several 1/20 aircraft. I may well buckle and get the 1/16 T-34. I've grown tired of the endless waiting.

Well, at 1/16, at least it would be scale to the FOV King Tiger, should you want to fork over the money for that

Oops sorry guys.

As for the hatches, it really depends on how much glue they used. I managed to open the commander's and driver's hatch fairly easily, but the loader's hatch was a pain in the rump. Then I just re-glued them back, because the RC mechanisms were so visible.

I love these things, because there's a lot of aftermarket parts for them. They even got complete conversion kits for an accurate SU-100, or an SU-85!!! Those kits comes with everything, even a metal barrel! But they're kinda pricey though, at 80-90 a piece.

thanks GooglyDoogly. So you're happy with it even though it's 1/16 scale, are you? I would think it's about the same size or maybe a hair larger than the xd panther. But as i said i am pretty tired of the endless waiting and the fact i could also get a 34/76 and now hearing about su-85 and su-100 options makes it even more tempting.

Did you take any shots with xd figures on it? If so could you post one if you have a chance.

What a pity, the Russians make great looking tanks, especially the T-34 and IS-2. Just my $.02 worth.

Hi, took more comparison pics, this time with an XD Panther, and a XD german tanker. The XD Panther is a little bit bigger than the RC T-34.

The panther was a bigger tank any way. I always thought the 21C panther was a bit big for 1/18 , the Sherman a bit small and the tiger a bit small for true 1/18

My tank book gives varying lenghts, for example the T-34 is listed as 24 foot xx inches long ( with gun barrel) Now the same book lists the Panther as 22 feet xx inches but doesn't say wheter that is with gun or without.

And a online source listed the panther at 29 feet but again doesn't specify if gun lenght is included.

Thanks for the comparison pics. The T-34 really doesn't look all that bad beside xd figures and next to the Panther. In reality it was a bit bigger than the Panzer IV and noticably smaller than the Panther. The Panther was big vehicle, especially given it was considered a medium tank. It was noticeably larger than the Tiger.

Lengthwise the tiger and T34 were about the same but the Tiger was wider and a bit higher.

Thanks for taking the trouble to post those pic, much appreciated. :)

I got one through eBay a couple of months ago, the seller's nick is modelocity. Paid $34.99 for it then, but I just checked their auctions and the asking price is $42.99 right now.

Oh, BTW, the assembly can be a pain in the butt if you don't feel you're up to it. I was about to the point I was gonna throw away the little rinky dinky straps that hold the spare individual tracks on the right side of the hull. The little tow hook parts front and rear can get lost if you're not careful. Positive side is the extra little details really make it look good. I still think it was worth every penny.
