21st Century BoTB Ser. 1 and Ser. 2 inaccuracies

Post by billgiff » Thu May 25, 2006 11:24 am

I was just reviewing my BoTB U.S. figures to do some custom work to. We all know that the 101st A.B. didn't have any tank commanders but I came acrossed a grossely overlooked item on the mackinaw figures with the M1 Garand cartridge belt. Something just didn't look right to me! The Series 1 figure has a 12 pouch cartridge belt and the Series 2 figure has a 14 pouch one. Who at 21st century oversees this crap? A real M1 cartridge belt has 10 pockets and there is a 9 pocket version too which has a snap fastener for a .45 pouch. 21st century continues to amaze me. Has anybody else noticed this or any other figure oversights?

After the adoption of the M1, the Model 1938 cartridge belt was adopted. This belt was essentially identical to the earlier M1923 belt but had twelve pockets instead of ten to provide extra ammunition for the greater firepower of the M1.
Can't help you with the BoB2, but accuracy is not their strong suit imo.

Hey Spencer, where did you get that quote from? There is a such thing as a WWII U.S. "Government Issue" 12 pocket Garand Belt. Yes, they were made in very limited numbers and didn't see much use. They felt that the disposable bandoleers were more practical than the 2 rear pockets on the 12 pocket cartridge belt. "M1938 Cartridge Belt: Had 12 pockets, each capable of holding 2 5-round M1903 charger clips or a single 8-round stripper clip (24 and 12 clips, respectively). This belt only saw limited service through the end of the war." Now, leave it to 21st Century to make such a odd choice between the standard 10 pocket and the limited use 12 pocket cartridge belt. But historically it's right. I stand corrected
