Corey, thanks for the photos (and like how you have them on your site, up close, no bs photo of fig in package 8) ).

Am I just dreaming or that is a NEW sculpt on the modern helmet, perhaps the most important piece of equipment we could get? :D We asked and received, big kudos for bbi on that.
I hope they release the "regular" guy Scope mentioned in the toy fair photo so I don't need to use the paras to kit-out all my troops. 8)

I went to TRU yesterday looking for the "Old Crow" version of BBIs P-51. No luck, but they did have three "Killer" P-51s, and three Corsairs in the latest scheme they are offering. I will keep looking for an "Old Crow", I really want one of those. :D

bbi Hind helo

Post by Tinman » Mon May 01, 2006 5:18 pm

Ran across a bbi Hind helicopter at Target today (when I was looking for Pirates of the Caribean). It's like the A-10 - very underscale and not very realistic looking. Seats one figure instead of the two crew you'd expect. Anyone else seen this yet?

Yeah, picked up a few Hinds a couple months back. IF you can ignore the scale thing, they're kinda fun. Also, it think the pilot looks pretty "russian" (i.e. helmet-wise), so it was worth getting a couple just for him (fortunately, I got mine for $2.54 each  )

i see BCT is out of Old Crow,
maybe they will figure out OD Mustangs are better sellers then all the silver ones.
plus i think everyone who has seen an interview Bud Anderson knows what a class act he is. so his plane would be a great seller
now bring on his P-51B the most famous of his Old Crows :D

Goodstuff has the Old Crow for $45. No "special promotional price" bs either, just that is their price. $47 for the new Corsair.

EDIT - also, anyone notice what looks like a new articulation point on the modern paras? It seems like above the knee is a thigh swivel. Maybe someone could confirm?

Anybody else still looking for a green zero, looks like BadCat has them up for preorder for a 2nd wave in June - snagged one for around $50 dlvd. which sure beats the $70+ dlvd. that they've been getting on eBay!

Okay, since nobody has posted photos of the Modern Paras "out of package" yet, we have posted them on our site and you can get a pretty good close up if you continue to click on the photo itself.

This is not a pitch for the foxholetoys.com website since we still have yet to get our shipment in. We're just lending a hand for a place to show them off.

And yes, the helmets are new designs, the weapons are awesome & we can't wait for more Modern "Infantry" figure photos!!!

Cheers!

Those figures really do look cool just wish there were more then 2 to get. I got all of the WWII guys despite being a modern collector because they looked so cool and would have loved to see more modern para's.

Anyway i love the new figs and new weaps that m-4 rocks i hope it comes out in a weapons pack! The one thing that is a little disappointing is that they only have 1 weapon all of the WWII guys had atleast 2 weapons and a load of accessories but that doesnt stop me from wanting multiples!! :)

Hi guys! These are very cool figures! We don't like the way our photos turned out (color) so check our site later today for updated correct coloring shots! BBI did a fantastic job on these - as well as, on the Kiowa, & we want that reflected in the photos to highlight the actual color scheme and detail.

You can really see the digital aspect on Ferguson's BDUs, and MAN, that M60E rocks! :)

Cheers!

WOW they Do look even better out of the packaging :D

Outstanding & articulated too. From the carded photos i thought it looked like arms only were articulated I can see i was wrong there.
As for the camo uniforms & hell there kit & weapons OUTSTANDING BBI.

Now YOU have to MAKE More Modern :D

Okay Don, Tinman & the rest of the gang, we finished posting the new pics on our site. MUCH better light contrast to view how they "really" look!

Again, when you get to the actual shot you can continue to click for a real close up shot and even make out the digital camo!

So awesome...EXACTLY the uniforms we have been clamoring for. Just spot on with the camo, helmets and weapons - both guys.

Needless to say it sucks that these guys are saddled with Jump Gear. They are the ultimate Army builder but not at $10 a piece, not when they are hard to find, and not when they have molded on harnesses. I'm sure we eventually will see guys like this as regulars (no harness), but until then it is hard to get excited. Also no extra weapons doesn't help....

We went through this with the WWII paras and it sucked then as it does now. I bought SO many of those guys because they were all there was and I just can't see myself doing that again at $10 a pop. D-day was one thing but a show drop in Iraq doesn't have quite the same significance IMO. These guys are SO sweet it only makes waiting for regulars that much harder...sorry for the rant...typical bbi - awesome product, lousy distribution and decision making. :x

I agree - awesome figures, but we really need ones w/o the jump gear and with lots of weapons (well, there's always the old BBI accessory packs that don't look too bad).

I think BBI's reasoning behind these figures is not so much to target us collectors, but again the general public. The average parent buying army soldiers for their kids will recoginze that the BBI troops are modern figures (like on TV) and that they have parachutes, which will be potentially fun for the kid.

Found 4 new figs at TRU

Post by markecho » Fri May 05, 2006 7:28 am

Hey all,
Just reporting that I found the new wave of Modern figs at a local TRU (HB).
Sorry I have NO pics because I passed on them ALL! Wasn't too happy with them. I agree with you all the Airborne is great but the molded straps killed it for me. This would have been a great army building fig...oh well the wait continues.

I will try to briefly describe the new figs that are not pictured:

1 Spec Ops (with muscles vest, baseball cap with non-removable sunglasses on top of cap) - but no wrist articulation.

1 SEAL diver: bad woodland paint job with removable rebreather, fins, mask and boonie hat. nice RIS MP5 (if I can remember that is the only thing I wanted from the pack!)

1 Desert Ghillie suit sniper - molded ghillie material with M14 and ghillie covered Barrett. Head looks like it can swivel up so figure can be in prone position.

1 Night stalker - has large black vest and Para-SAW, and pilot helmet with visor down and NVG attached to helmet.

(2 modern paras were also there)

All the SpecOps figures had great weapons...hope they do a weapon set of this...oh no not another weapon set!!! (that will just sit there on the pegs accept for the 1 I buy)

Maybe I will pick them up, take some pics and then return them...anyone in HB want them??? Or maybe I will just sneak a few pics at the store.
I still am debating on whether or not to pick up 2 snipers though.

Well we all know a pic is worth 1000 words but I hope that helped.

Take it easy!

EDIT - OOPs sorry links to pics were posted on bottom of page 13 (by scopeUK)...just wasted my breathe!!! heh!
It is the dang toy companies that have sometimes made me want to stop collecting toys!!!

Markecho the recon king...
I'm telling you right now I and others would love to trade for those new modern guys, especially the non-paras. If you can I would grab them...all...

Can't wait to see pics of the Sniper and SpecOps guy.

Well it seems that these new figures are becoming more and more available i just wish that BBI would bring these guys out over here!!!!! just a couple of questions for you markecho On the spec ops figure does it come with any neat accs like the GPS and Laptop in the Night stalker fig, what does the AK47 look like is it wood or collapsable stock?

And with the sniper is the M14 that he comes with a new model or just a recoloured version of the one that we have already seen. How good is the camo?

Just out of interest how many of these guys did you see?

If you can get pics of these would love to see some and if you do get them dont return them as i am sure that either i or one of the other guys on here would love to have them.

Found the Old Crow Mustang and the Black Kiowna at a TRU near me, no new figures though. I was really surprised to find these as new items tend to hit the west coast first and slowly make their way east. The black chopper is cool, I never got the OD one so I'm guessing the only difference is the color, it looks great I only wish at least one of rear doors opened. It comes with a tan suited pilot, I know they made 2 carded pilots- Army and Navy what color unis did they have? It would be great to add a co-pilot to it.
