BF-109G-6 -S1?

Post by Gusthebus » Fri Apr 21, 2006 12:16 pm

What's up with the BF-109G-6 -S1, red noise plane? There are 6-8 sitting on every WM shelf in Colorado. I personally don't care for the looks of the plane but what does everyone else think? Anyone have a ton of these sitting around their WMs?

I haven’t seen it in these parts for a while now. There may be a straggler or two around here someplace. I personally loved that paint scheme. Its one of my faves. I think some wal marts just get too much of the same item around and it sits for a long time. I just found a bunch of checker tailed Razorbacks in the old red motor works boxes the other day. It was a store that had tons of these planes almost a year ago. Guess what, there still there.

There's a few here. Personally, I think the BF-109 is the best looking German aircraft made yet. I've got every scheme so far that's been made, and man do they look awesome with the P-51D Flying Undertaker!

Have quite a few of them sitting on the shelves at several Northern CA WM's. They've been there for awhile too! I just wonder if they will ever clearance them out.

The Wally's in my AO are all choked with the 109G S1. Unfortunately these planes have been sitting on the shelves since December, so I worry that we are not seeing some of the later releases due to lack of shelf space (I would love to get my hands on a German F-104). It seems to be a repeat of the FW-190 distibution all over again. And as much as I like the 109G S1 paint scheme, I can only use one. Hopefully from now on, we'll see only the mixed-case distribution instead of sending 6 of the same plane to each store in the area.

I kind of like the S1 "Red Nose" version of the Bf-109G, but the Wal Marts in my area got flooded with them starting last summer. The first batch didn't sell, then they added more to it, which also didn't sell. There's still plenty to be had in my AO in central California, but they are thankfully getting fewer. The S2 & S3 (Hackle and Sahl) ME-109s seemed to have sold much better when they finally appeared in my area a month or so ago. The Corsairs and Stukas practically flew off the shelves - all while the rednose 109s sat around. I don't know what it is about that plane and not selling? The red nose? No antenna? The S1 pilot figure? It doesn't look nearly as bad as the "Red 3" candycane FW-190  Further, they have moved perhaps even more slowly at the local Hobbytown shop which still has 4 sitting where they have for months.

We never got the Red nose 109, save for 2 I found at one WM last summer here in the Houston area. They were both gone iun less than a month. The first my area ever saw of the 109 were the Hackl and Sahl right before Christmas. They have sold well and the Seeman showed up back in Feb. It seems to be sitting around on the shelf longer than the other two did.

After a while, my Hackl and Sahl start kinda looking like each other . . LOL . . It's then I reach for the red-nosed Graf and all is well again. :D

I like it's scheme a lot, not to mention it's historical place in the mix.

Over here in Florida, I have yet to see the red tulip me 109, I see fw 190s, other 109's, and german F104's even some USAF F104s. My local walmart got 4 P-51 ridge runners and soon after they were gone, they got the F104s (2)and Seeman's 109 (2)

Have yet to see the corsairs or stuka.. I keep kicking I didn't buy the winter scheme stuka

The north side of Atlanta never saw any red-nosed Graff 109s, except for the one I ordered from BCA many, many months ago. For all you late comers, there are plenty of black 109s left. We still have Hackle and Sahls- I still have'nt justified the sahl to go with the hackle, they do look somewhat similar. The seeman looks just different enough to buy at some point. Also found 1 or 2 to a store is the German f-104 and the p-51 ridge runner. Last, but not least, I saw on bunker corsair and desert stuka at one of the walmarts, but I have some stukas and enough corsairs, maybe they are still there.

See, Wal Mart distribution is pretty funny. We in the west have tons of the S1 BF-109Gs and are only now just getting the S1 and S2 versions, plus the USAF F-104s. You have the Ridgrunner P-51s, Seeman 109s and German F-104s (not to mention the greater incidence of the BoB II figures) and you long ago got the S2 & S3 190Gs and silver F-104s. Why it takes so long for things to go one way or especially the other is just wierd.

Well if you get a chance, or only want to buy 1 109, buy the Rall 109, the special box art and Rall bio is really cool, plus you've seen him on many TV shows, 1 reason the Sky Captain P-40 is scarce at WM, the boxart sells the plane.

Between the two Wally Worlds in our area there must be at least twenty Graff 109s and only a few other ones.
