1:18 Figures

Post by Threetoughtrucks » Wed Dec 08, 2004 6:56 am

Guys help me out.

I've stayed away from our scale figures, up to now. I only have those drivers that came with our 21c vehicles, or my Stuka.

Do these new 21c and Dragon figures have movable limbs? Changable heads?, helmets? How about weapons? Interchangable?

Or heaven forbid, do they have changable clothes?

I've been reading about the poseable BBI Sherman guy and was wondering if the other 21c or Dragon guys are the same.

My fat hairy fingers have enough trouble with my 1:6 guys: boots, leather equipment and clothes. I spend hours dressing these guys, with most times, something snapping or crooked or twisted before I finish.. The thought of dressing 1:18 guys is enough to make me stay away from them. Movable limbs are my limit.

Can you help?

Heads, sometimes with a little creativity, are changeable. All 21st 1:18 figures' heads, with varying amounts of effort, pop off and can be changed. If you are switching heads with newer figures (from 2nd series pilots & papatroops on) the heads swap easily. It can also be done with 1st series troops, however a little shaving of the peg may be necessary. BBI figures work in basically the same way, but are much easier.

All the limbs are movable on the 21c figures, though on the new modern figures, the joints are horrible. The WWII BOB figures and the like are far better. The new WWII BBI figures (thus far a pilot and tanker) have the best joints overall and set a new standard! The smaller pieces have been acccounted for in a previous post. As for clothes, the 21c Bob German Ardennes Infantry figure has a removable coat. The BBI pilot has an innerchangeable hat and flight helmet. Overall on most figures, clothes are molded on save for a few helmets.

Hope that helps!

Thanks guys, glad to have the info. It's good to know I will be dealing with molded uniforms.

As for 1:6 figures, after two months of hours getting boots on various bought and kit bashed guys, I started using my wife's hand cream on the feet or squirting the cream in the boots. Works like a charm. But after two hours trying to dress General Rommel yesterday with proper equipment, most of which will be hidden under an overcoat, I am about to give up and look seriously look at 1:18 figures.

Again, thanks.
