Is the M113 Armored Personnel Carrier worth getting? Does it come in an R/C version and a non R/C version?
Is the Merrill's Marauders set still available at TRU? Are the figures that come with the set different than anything sold separately?
Thanks,
Gus
M113 and Marauders Question
Gus, absolutely the M113s are a must have! They do, as you mention, come in static & R/C versions! The non-R/Cs have a terrific interior and are made of die-cast/plastic & come in either Desert-Tan or Vietnam Olive-Drab!
The R/C version comes in Woodland camo or Desert-Tan paint. I can't comment on the interior of the R/C version as we have not opened one up...yet. Perhaps another board member can fill us in and the sounds it makes.
As for the Exclusive Merrill's Marauders set, TRU is no longer carrying these. Someone might still be able to find one at some obscure location, if they are extremely lucky!
Cheers!

The M113 comes in both RC and non-RC configurations, with two paintschemes of each.
In the non-RC version, there is a modern desert paintscheme and a Viet Nam era OD Green paintscheme, though both are the same vehicles (M113A3 variant). The included baggage and figures on the non-RC versions are not that great, though the baggage can be removed and Build-a-Rama accessories added for a more realistic look. The hull is diecast and all hatches & the engine compartment open as well. The commander's turret turns as well. The interior has crew seats, passenger benches, fire extinguishers, and storage space. I use BBI modern figures in my desert M113, and it can easily hold 8 figures, 2 crew and equipment
The RC M113 comes in 2 paintschemes: a desert version (same as the non-RC) and a NATO cammo version. The box also shows a picture of an OD green RC version, but this hasn't been seen yet. The RC M113s have been widely reported to run well - better, overall, than the RC Panzer IV tank. It has the full range of turning motion, plus a machine gun sound. The hatches open, but are blocked about an inch or so down. The blockage can be removed, however, so figures can fit in the hatches. I have a NATO cammo RC M113 and like it!
The occasional MM set still might be found at TRU, though they sold out very quickly over the past Christmas holiday season and are now rather hard to find. There wasn't anything really new in the sets and the figures were green repaints of the XD US Paratroopers - actually they were pretty much identical to the OMG paratroopers currently to be found a many Wal Marts. The vehicles were the standard XD WC-63 1 3/4 ton truck and the WC-57 command car. Overall, it was a good package for the price (when you could get them) as you got two vehicles and six equipped figures for $40!

I see the MM sets being sold as some sort of collector's item but they are not really worth much more than the retail price. You can see one here for BiN at retail:
