This website claims that a new "S" version will release in spring 2006.
![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
The photo shows the "Flying Tigers" series 1 but the text says otherwise.
This would make #5 in the series?
Hey TKO... Any news on this?

If 21st kicks out another AVG (All Volunteer Group) P-40... perhaps it will be Gregory Boyington's War hawk. It seems a logical next step since they already have the licensing to do "Lucy Belle"
Just a thought.

I know there has been a lot of pressure on 21st to bring back an AVG P-40 for the 1:18 scale. I think there is a fairly good chance that we will see another "Flying Tiger" sometime this year. If they do another it will certainly be a different paint scheme than older R.T. Smith version.

I hope not, Boyington's contributions to the Flying Tigers were questionable. He was even dishonorably discharged for drunkeness I believe. Plus I think he has been done enough on the Corsair. Lets have some of the other Tigers like "Tex Hill"

I was always under the impression that the Tigers didn't have their "own" planes. I also heard this about many Pacific theater sqauds. They flew was was flyable that day. Is there any truth to this? I also heard that "Lucy Belle" was just a photo op plane, He never flew it.
Yes Dear, I know you said no more planes, But this one is special!

You sure?
Seems kind of fast
I think it would be half a second,
Im sure you could find it out using math (unless you did that), but I am lazy
The idle is around 800-900 RPM, Maximum is 3500RPM

Tey should do a version of Jack Chennault's (son of General Chennault) Aleutian Tiger P-40. Might be a later version, though. The nose art is pretty cool.
Check the link.

I hope they retool the wheels, also.

What's wrong with the wheels?

If it is 21, Charlie Bond flew it after Boyington got the boot and Bonds 5 was destroyed in an attack.
Any AVG would be cool or they could do all 100.

The wheel struts don't lock down and the lower strut wheel swivel doesn't lock in place in either a retracted (flat position) or extended (forward facing position). When retracted, the wheels don't sit completely flat in the wheel housing. The covers for the strut housing don't sit flush either and look klunky. Other wise I still like the plane and hope for more repaints.

I actually think the P-40 landing gear is one of the best done of the lot. You don't need the gear to lock down since the wieght of the plane is more than enough to keep the gear in place. The P-40 looks really good on the gear and with the Corsair is among the most correct looking. I'm sure it took a quit a bit of engineering to make it work....

I must second that Ski. I was impressed they went to the level of detail on the P-40 and the Corsair gear.
