Finally we've got some new 21C items in one of the WMs here in Miami.
I purchased (at last), my 3/4 ton Weapon Carrier (two left), and two 1:32 airplanes: The Me-109 and the P-51/ Ridge Runner. They also have the P-47 with the fillet tail, which I did not buy although they have plenty of them.
Anyhow, they do have plenty of the Japanese-2, as well as the BoB-2 figures. If any of you are interested, I can pick up some of these figs and send them over to you. Let me know soon.

This may be a stupid question, but do the Japanese clear the shelves, or collect dust like the Marines?
They don't move at all around here.... They put out a case with S1 in it and they are all still here. The S2 Marines are just sitting as well, insuring that getting anything beyond that wave next to impossible for me since my Wal-Mart will let stuff sit till it sells or they HAVE to put it on clearance 2 years later. They have become the 190s of the figures here....IE: Never move and clogg the shelves. Most of the BOB figures I have found have been at Wal-Marts outside my area. And I just saw the Japanesse S2 for the first time yesterday after traveling 90 miles away from my local Wal-Mart.

That is crap, that the new P-51s are out and the people that entered the contest for them don't have theirs yet. I thought they were going to be the first to receive the new P-51?
I have see the new 1/32 plane, but didn't pay much attention because I don't collect that stuff. Haven't seen a new 1/18 figure in for ever.

Funny you say that. Just stopped by the Margate Walmart and found the new 1/32 P-47, P-51, and Bf-109. Only one 1/18 Ridge Runner left with a couple of Seeman 109Gs. I also bought the two German F-104s they had. I want to know who 21st thinks they are making such a kick ass plane! I couldn't even wait to get it home. Put it together in the parking lot. lolJohnLumley wrote:Visited 4 Walmarts in Broward County Florida this past Sunday.
No sightings of the new 1:32 aircraft.
I saw plenty of 1:18 Ridge Runners & Seemanns
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

Q
Hello guys. I have a question for those of you who've already seen the XD Ridge Runner. Is it the same mold as the S1 version, or a new one? The 1:32 version is a miniature copy of the S1 series, and although nice, I'd not buy the XD unless it's an improved version.
JohnLumley, since you sighted a lot of those XD P51s in your area, could you fetch one for me? My WMs have nothing but F-109s and P-47s, all collecting dust on the upper shelves. On the other hand, they have plenty of 1:32 Me-109s, P51s and P-47s.
Thank you.

Re: Q
The 1:18 Ridge Runners are 100% new remodelled P-51s. I haven't seen it personally, but I know that any new P-51s will be the retooled versions.eddie372 wrote:Hello guys. Thank you
Sky, as always, you're the man with the timely response. I'm eagerly awaiting for the reviews on this birds, which seem just as nice as the BBI "Killer Ace", or so I'm led to believe.
Greetings from Miami.

The most eagerly awaited feature for me on the new P-51s are the forward raked landing gear. The plane should look beautiful on it's feet for once!

I'm with T-Man on this - we need a review!
Whatever happened to reviews of new products?
Lord knows I would not land new figures without "breaking 'em down" in a hasty ramble...where are all the fly-boys??

I agree with Digger. Board reviews of new items are most helpful once the initial joy or disappointment is tempered with objectivity. Board reviews help members avoid certain vendors, buying certain items, and breaking item parts. They also identify those unique features that elevate an item to a "must have" level.
On the downside, you can miss out on some items waiting for a review. Playing it safe usually results in having to wait another month or two and having to pay $10 to $30 more for a favorably reviewed item.
REVIEW IS UNDER THE BOARD MEMBER'S PURVIEW

This is my first attempt at a review so I will keep it brief.
1:18 Ridge Runner
This is the new mold minus the opening gun/wing lockers. The wings are silky smooth with no rivet detail. If you know what a dzus fastener is you can see these in all the right places around the cowling, wing root fairings as well as the stabilizer & vertical fin fairings. There are plenty of panel lines that are visible. The model went together easy and the parts fit well. No gaps between the wing & fuse. Two screws were used to fasten the wing and 21st provided two neat little covers that install over the screw heads. ALL the control surfaces move… ailerons, flaps, elevators & rudder. The radiator door on the belly is adjustable. Unlike the bbi, the radiator inlet scoop is glued in place and does not fall off. The elevators and rudders have the correct counter-balance tabs that move with the control surface and they protrude out the opposite side just like the real thing. (I think this is a first ???). The paint is on par with the F-104. One of the nice features is the wood grained floor boards in the cockpit. Unlike the bbi “Killer” there is no weathering of any kind. The drop tanks are in the correct position compared to the bbi but do not have the fluid connections. The inside of the wheel wells are done in zinc chromate (excellent touch). The detail on the tires & wheels is vastly improved. It is hard for me to tell if there is a change in the “rake”. The tail wheel has the correct sidewall detail/profile. (You will see what I mean when you take a look). The propeller does not look right. What I mean is that the prop blades all bend towards the rear giving the prop disc a bowl shape to it. (Perhaps this is correct but it just does not look right). The airplane comes with 2 bombs, 2 drop tanks & pilot. The case of four that I selected from, one had a missing drop tank and another had a big glue smear on the canopy. These Q.C. issues should be temporary.
My over all first impression is a 9 out of a possible 10.
If the prop blades were straight and it had weathering it would be a 10 for me.
This is only a partial review and its from memory… Please feel free to fill in the blanks on anything I may have overlooked.

Thanks for the review! It sounds like the 21c P-51 is largely on par with the BBI version, exceeding it in some respects, while also having a few omissions. The fact that all control surfaces move, the landing gear are correctly positioned, and the drop tanks are in the right spot do give the 21c P-51 are positive improvements over the competition. We may also get a number of accurate repaints from 21c as well, which is something the S1 BBI P-51 lacks. Despite the similarities, I've got a retooled P-51 (The Flying Undertaker) on order from a small retailer largely because I wanted another P-51 repaint and I really liked the scheme for that particular plane

I just found the German 104 and the Seeman 109g here at the dobbins arb walmart. Looks like there is two of each to a box. Unlike the current flock of grey 109s (showing little difference other than the unit emblem and tail color), the German 104 is definately a keeper, even with the USAF one. Dont mock me for the 109 comment because I do have several...so I obviously bought it. You gotta notice the avenger pic on the back, its just a matter of time, right?

I hit the three Super Wal-Marts here in Lafayette Louisiana today. I was hoping to find the new updated 21st Century P-51D Mustang. No Mustang, but lots of BF-109s. I saw two of the new "Seeman" versions of the 109, and I had to get one of those. I have all the 109s out so far, and this one is a beauty. There were also two German F-104s, but no P-51s. Bummer

A week or so I reported my local Walmart had 4 P-51 Ridgerunners 1/18, and lone 190. So I bought 1 P-51. Today they had 2 german 104's and 2 "seemann" 109's and 1 P-51 left plus the 190. So the 3 sold P-51 let some new stock in...
I wonder if the 190 A would have been a slow seller?
They had tons of 1/32 plus the latest 1/18 vehicles. Have yet to see the Corsair or Stuka.
The german 104 is a KEEPER, I bought mine off the web and likely paid 20 bucks more for it, but at least you know it's coming to your door.
I have bunch of the 109's E and G-6, was debating on another!

Had a chance to check out the WM in Big Flats (Elmira area) NY today. Picked up the 1:32 Zero (green) and the Italian plane (the darker color scheme). Very nice! I'm starting to think that 1:32 is a great scale for aircraft, while 1:18 is best for vehicles and armor.
Also saw the 3rd r/c Panzer variant. Not a buy for me.
