More pictures? More BS in the description? Be interesting to see where they end.

Better picture set up.

Just the 1/1 ammo cases in the background of the first Tiger should bring some extra bucks.

Everything is in how it is offered. A single blury pic (or a couple of badly composed pics) does NOT sell like clear multiple pics.

Winter Tiger

Post by lightning2000 » Tue Feb 28, 2006 10:42 am

Hi,
Besides the pictures and text, alot of it has to do with the categories the auction appears within. In this case, the cheaper item is in the "action figure" category while in the more expensive case, its reaching more prospective customers in the "Modern Era Diecast Vehicles" section. If you were a buyer, where would you look to pick up an item like this?

I've seen countless examples where a poorly chosen category will spell death for the auction and a steal for the prospective buyer. Ebay, if nothing else, is an excellent resource, whereby you can see what items are selling and at what price, something a brick-and-mortar or pure-play e-commerce site doesnt divulge to the onlooker. Done correctly, and you can do quite well despite the ever-increasing costs they pass along to their sellers.

Cordially,

I agree - the 1:18 dicast crowd. Pure placement of the add -

Plus it is a good pic with appealing background -appears larger than life.
I saw that Tiger when it first appeared and saw the going bid - was trying to figure out if I had missed some limited run - but no.
hmm -
It is almost worth the extra fees to place the item in multiple areas -

Or he has a friend bumping up the price with multiple Id names.
Not saying that is what is happening but it does happen.

well how about 9 us/german tanker figures selling for an astounding $248.25!

that's $27 bucks a figure!

search "1:18 motorworks" completed auctions, about a third of the way down the page.

unreal.

That is not too far off from some internet store selling the BoB figures for $28 a piece. last two weeks i think - have not checked this week. They do offer free shipping if you spend over $100

hmm four Bar Gunners or 20 figures from Walmart to use for trade....

or two stukas, two avengers....

Ive seen them for over $30 on ebay as well.

On something like this, I love to analyze the bidders. Take for instance the highest bidder for the 1st (102.00) auction. They have 100% and looking at past auctions they have been buying 1/32 items. Strange they are going after a 1/18 tank now??? :?:
The pics aren't that great. Strange to see this type of item go up to over a 100 bucks...

Still stranger yet... this same seller sold the same tank with same details and pics ended 2/17 and only sold for 40.00 bucks!

Stuka might have seen some "shell" bidding going on here after all.
Can't ever prove it, but it does seem strange.

Didnt think the Xd white wash tiger was in diecast. I belive its all plastic, so he is also miss leading the bidders. Unless they retooled the molds from the original Gray tiger then it is 100% plastic. And not worth the going price he is asking since 21st C still has them in stock.
Hmmmm might have to order me a case.

Die-Cast "Winter" Tiger

Post by MG-42 » Tue Feb 28, 2006 12:53 pm

I've got one of these "Winter" diecast Tigers,..that I only paid $25.00 bucks for. + 2 "Winter" diecast Shermans at the same price. Maybe I should put them on "evilBaY",..to see what I can snag. ....lol too ! ..

The motorworks Tigers were "diecast" and had one figure.
The SR Tiger (only winter) was plastic and had two figures (each of the tanker heads).
The diecast tigers have trouble keeping their paint and not in a good way.
But they are heavy as hell and that alone makes them impressive.

Looking at the 21stC price list it dosnt say anything about it being diecast or plastic. They are just listed under Ultimate Soldier 1/18 Vehicles.

Yes - they are heavy as heck so far no problems with the paint here -

The whitewash would wash right off anyway - so I'd say it is very realistic! :D
I also paid $25 for mine at walmart and $12-15 can't remember for the motorworks sherman dicast.
