Boyington Corsair

Post by Threetoughtrucks » Thu Feb 02, 2006 8:36 pm

Sorry for asking this really stupid question but you guys know I'm a vehicle fanatic, and only bump into planes once in a while (like the fabled Avenger.......whoose shipment from China is now in the Bermuda Triangle, I believe). 8)

Did 21c make a Corsair that was Pappy Boyington's? And if they did, are they available?

I was touting 1/18 (as I always do) and this family friend is asking.

Yes, 21c did one last year. It was a nice one; I have one. And I believe that they will be re-releasing it as one of their new "Legends" series with a custom pilot and other additions.

All he said - IMHO, The 21c Boyington Corsair and the repainted Kepford Corsair are some of their best repaints of that plane. Here's a picture of the Boyington version that was released (I think this was one taken by P-51 for the 21c site) :

This release was a BadCat exclusive, with a few caseloads that went to several other small retailers. It did not go to Wal Mart. The pilot is the regular XD Corsair pilot figure, but with "VMF-214" stenciled on the life jacket.
