New Aircraft Projects For 2023

Post by pickelhaube » Mon Jan 09, 2023 1:31 pm

Hey Guys,

I am in full stride trying to get out 2022 armor projects and I am figuring I will be done in about 2 months depending on my real work.

I am thinking on doing some aircraft for 2023.

Unless you guys are still shell shocked about the Lippisch incident I am thinking of doing the Lippisch delta wing , Bell P -39 and possibly the Nam version of the Huey Cobra

It is too early to say how much each will be but considering prices now my guess would be $350-$450 per kit and around $850 for the builds.

This is only a guess .

The A-10 proto rough-in is made .

This is a big plane with a big price .

This will be about twice the project that the Hind was and will be about twice the price .

I have been talking with guys who are in on this project and the general consensus is that 2-3 guys should go in on this project , splitting the ordinance from the actual aircraft.

Any feedback is welcomed .

Any guys out there still collecting ?

A Vietnam era Cobra would be a must have for me, and it would be great to see the P-39 brought to completion.

P-39 and Wildcat are tops for me as they are the only two main US WWII fighters missing. Oh and a P-36 too since I missed the first run.

I would definitely like an A-10. I am also interested in a Cobra depending on price.

You know I’m in for the A-10. Would like to know more about this project and what’s needed to go ‘in’.

i hope it's a later A-10A version with the LASTE upgrade rather then the A-10C version ... i like the older version better it also uses the pave penny pod and the antenna array is different then the C model ... my 2 cents ... Dana

I am a WWII fan mainly, and am STILL firm on us needing WWII RUSSIAN PLANES! That said, here are some suggestions below.

RUSSIAN FIGTHERS:
Bell P-39 Airacobra (Boss, but not Russian made - Benefit is that it made many top Russian aces) (~10,000 made)
Yak9 (The best Russian made fighter - EPIC!) (~16,000 made!!!)
Lavochkin La-7 (2nd best Russian made fighter of WWII) (~5,000 made)
Bell P63 Kingcobra would be cool, but the numbers were so few, it doesn't have a lot of history. (~3,300 made)

Ground Attack (like Jap Stuka):
Ilyushin II-2 (This was THEE MOST PRODUCED MILITARY AIRCRAFT in the WORLD. (~36,183 made!!!!) - Looks great!

Outside Russian planes, I like the idea of the US Navy Wildcat already requested. The Bearcat would be kind of neat too to fill out that line. The Brewster F2A Buffalo was a sweet looking little plane. One plane I have always thought would be REALLY cool would be the T-6 Texan, which wasn't a war plane unfortunately. However, this trainer looks boss, and was a key stepping stone in pilot training for not only WWII, but it was used all the way into the 1970s! (~16,000 made).

The ultimate US plane to add bar none would be to finally have an actual B-17 bomber available. What a SPECTACLE that thing would be to see in person in 1:18 scale!!! I think this literally would be the ultimate plane of all. (~13,000 made)

There seems like there was almost no interest in any new aircraft projects.
At least on this forum.
I know there are so many forums on Facebook but not a lot there either except the A-10.
That is wanted across all of the forums.
I have completed the Nam Cobra project and have turned that over to another forum member.

I think a P-39 would be a great candidate since it was used in every theater so international appeal might be stronger. Nice to see Shomare brought up the suggestion too.

Good Evening Matthew,
honestly I would love to see some more aircraft projects from you, Maybe an F-4 Phantom? I know it's been talked about so much across the different forums and it never comes to fruition. All I see are usually the RC kits from 3d printers but I can't find any of them that are exact 1:18. Maybe you could fill that void if there were enough interest
