New BBI Mustang!
P-51 / Jets at TRU?
Will we see the BBi P-51 and Jets at TRU or just at BCA?
Not sure about the P-51 or Sherman on whether or not they will be in the stores, but the F-18s are already starting to show at TRU............

With the new BBI Mustang coming out and appearing to be quite superior to the 21C offering, i had planned to sell my 'Lou IV'. It was actually the first piece of XD i ever bought. I took it down from it's place in the closet and was doing my Ebay listing...but my eyes kept being drawn to it...i just love that paint scheme. After about 10 minutes not only did i decide to keep it but i took it out of its box and hung it up on the ceiling....
..i think i'm getting nostalgic in my old age..

I was just reading on BCA's site that the Mustang does NOT have a removable engine cover nor detailed engine. This was a mistake made in an earlier BBI press release.
I suspect they were confusing the Sherman which does have an engine with the P-51 (which does NOT).
No biggy....still a beautiful looking plane and a good price.

The origional 'Lou IV' P-51
I have also thought about what to do with my 'Lou IV' now that the far superior BBI P-51 is on the way. Much like you say, aferguson, was the item that got me into this whole XD addiction! Save for the toyish proportions of the aircraft, I have to agree that I really like the paint job as well! There is something both striking, but normal about it. Right now the plane is out of its box, but dissassembled and being stored in a cupboard. I think I might just return it to the box, being that its such a valuable piece and all.
i hung mine up high and it looks darn good. I really never thought it was such a bad piece. It is the u/c that is the worst feature and when displayed in flight it looks good.
The first series 109 is rife with errors and people are gobbling up every repaint that comes out of it. Me included. Both these are still nice pieces and worth having. We're just lucky that an even nicer P-51 is coming out...

On the P-51 band wagon
I just ordered my P-51 from BCA. I'll likely replace my 21C Blue Nose P-51 with the BBi becuase I'm running out of room. I think the 21C version of the P-51 was their first effort at 1:18 scale. There is no doubt the scale quality of all the other airplanes from 21C have been outstanding. With 21C and BBi both offering WWII aircraft, I'll have to build a room addition. Maybe BBi will heed our request for the Z-E-R-O!
Don't worry
These should be everywhere with very competetive pricing as the M4s are all over at a great price.

Got mine today and I must say in my opinion it smokes any WW2 bird 21st has done to date! The detail on the drop tanks alone is astounding! Great job BBi!! Now hopefully 21st will stick to their BS research on the Zero because I would much rather have a SUPER detailed Zero from BBi (if they do one and I bet they will). Hopefully BBi doesn't continue with planes that's already been done by 21st, lets see some new stuff, a Hellcat or Wildcat, a P-39 would kick butt, etc. The 21st Mustangs don't even compare to one drop tank on this plane for detail.

Also the box it comes in is alot smaller than the average 21st box but everything is packed nice and tight, arrived in perfect shape. Man you guys that ordered one are gonna love it! This is one plane I welcome as many repaints as they can make! The pilot is awesome, headgear and O2 mask are removeable and comes with visor hat as well.

P-51 -
Don't think about it - you had better get one of these! VMF214's description was on the mark. The BBI P-51D does indeed blow away any 21st WWII aircraft to date. Only the Spitfire comes reasonably close. The cockpit is simply amazing with all instruments, switches, seatbelts, and warning labels. The exterior is amazing as well, with every obscure thing being marked, plus the crip, clear markings and the accurate weathering. BCA still has some left - don't miss out on this plane!
BTW - I still will hold up on 21st for at least this year as they are making the Avenger and an ME-262. If BBI makes any different planes from 21st (I'm hinting at a Zero), then it will be a must!

Agreed!!
Absolutely agree with vmf214! I received my BBi P-51 as well as the F-16 today and was blown away by both! The detail on the P-51 is outstanding and makes 21st P-51 look like a Fisher Price toy. I'm extremely excited now that BBI has entered the WWII era market and I hope they keep putting out the quality of all of their planes so far.
I also received the tropical 109 and shark mouth Huey today, but they are still in the boxes. Will have to wait till the excitement of these latest BBi releases wears off before I open them or I'll be disappointed with 21st quality too quickly
Now come on BBi....................Give us that ZERO!!!!
