Anyone remember the 1970's Mattel Heroes in Action

Just curious if any else remembers the old 1970's Mattel toy line called Heroes in Action? They were about 1:18 scale figures with articulation only at the hips and arms. They came with bases that could pivot the figure and make gunfire sounds when pivoted. If anyone has images or links to images of these toys could they please post them.

What a blast from the past! I forgot all about these until I saw the pic from ebay. I had a couple of them, dont know what ever happened to them

I still have a few of these, there were army ones molded in green and SWAT ones molded in blue, I still have some of the army guys and a jeep. I'll see if I can drag them out and snap a photo, then all I have to do is figure out how to post a photo in a thread.

Great, I did it right, the first photo shows all the stuff I have left and the second is a side by side comparison with an X/D para. It doesn't look like these guys were true 1/18th scale but somewhere between 1/18th and 1/24th. Thanks, Tmanthegreat.

Go to the site www.imageshack.us, click browse, select your photo (assuning its scanned to your computer) then click the host button. A page with different URLs will appear. Highlight and copy the one under hotlink for forums (1) that begins and ends like [img]...[/img]. Then paste it to your post on this forum!

Interesting figures, but they're before my time

Remember those well, as they were my first experience with smaller than 1:6. I still remember the Christmas I got those and the various 1:6 Joe playsets, and I neglected the 1:6 for days unitll I had played with the jeep soo much, it actually broke and the figs and jeep eventually worked their way into the toy graveyard, also known as the footlocker kept in my closet, never to be played with again. When my mother moved about 10 yrs ago, she came across a whole boatload of my old toys, including several of the figs. I actually purchased some more from evilbay as a matter of fact, from a toy collector in England, and actually got another jeep as well, and these items are buried somewhere in one of my storage units..lol figures!!

I had a set of foam planes (Corsair & Mig) that could be either lauched from a BIG plactic aircraft carrier with a lever on the flight deck, or it could be launched from a hand held "slingshot" type of device.
They weren't very big. I'd say about 6" wing span.
Do you guys remember these or what they were called?

I think I know what you're talking about, they were more like a soft foam rubber than styrofoam, I don't remember the name, I had a set that was a ground base with a few buildings and a couple of planes. I'm pretty sure they were made by Mattle becuase they made something simular for their Battlestar Galactica line with 2 colonial vipers that lauched from a hand held flight deck.

The foam planes that you are talking about were called Flying Aces made by Mattel in the mid 1970's. I had them as a kid and started collecting them a couple years back along with the Heroes in Action line. Flying Aces had a couple neat sets such as an Aircraft carrier with working catapults for the 2 Corsairs included, an Advanced Island Base playset with two Corsairs along with other neat items and also there was a couple neat Jet playsets and other hand held slingshot type items. I have a few hard to find Heroes in Action items along with some other not so hard to find items. If I knew how to post pictures I would gladly share my collections along with my 1/18 craze and 1/35 model building addiction. Any help would be appreciated. Bill

I still have one of my Flying Aces Corsairs. It, along with the Black Sheep Squadron on TV launched me into my lifelong obsession with military aircraft, especially the Corsair. What memories.....

I have asked about those figures on the yojoe board and no one knew what i was talking about. i had a set of the SWAT guys and I think there were 5 of them. They came with a SWAT van and a huey helicopter. I broke the helicopter and always whished i had another and had to wait until the 21xd hog head to finally get another 1:18 Huey after all these years. I think I still have the van somewhere that I cutomized with model parts and battle damage (a drill for bullet holes and a bic lighter for burn marks). The Huey was awsome for the time...very realistic.
